That’s Lord Paul of Messenger to you
to say nothing of crashing Eagles. ![]()
I suspect that most Linn Linn’s upgrades take into account new technologies not available back in 1972, or are the result of improved processes and discoveries. The upgradability of the LP12 is one of its strengths and does not mean that Linn got anything “wrong”.
I’d go far as to sy that the LP12’s upgradeablity makes economic sense (for Linn, the Deals and various third parties) and good sense for the user, who can build a turntable in steps without an initial huge outlay. And better for the planet too – an LP12 can last a lifetime or longer. I’ve already had mine 34 years.
Indeed! Subtle……
I suppose one (not me, that’s for sure) could ask, in 2070, if Naim “got it right” in 2021…
Whatever one’s opinions of the Sondek, it has, and, it appears, continues to be a significant product within the hi-fi realm.
I would, space and £$£$ permitting have a collection of different turntables as I just like them as pieces of eye-candy. As I have neither, I have stuck with my LP12. It does the job unobtrusively, and very occasionally gets serviced or updated (admittedly substantially last year).
My hard copy arrived today. I look forward to reading the review tonight. In the past, I liked Sircom’s reviews and generally agree with his sensibilities.
And only virgins named Olive?
Only on the solstice……
How’s the 250 going……early days should be mighty fine though?
My 250 is fine, thanks.
Oh, you meant Mike’s…
Yes, really delighted with it thanks @Gazza, it really brings all the system synergy together. The extension of the upper and lower frequencies is very noticeable over using the SN2 as a power amp with the 252. The texture and subtleness in the vocals is superb.
I’ll be working very hard at enjoying my end-game and not follow in your esteemed footsteps though…
Best of British on that Mike……
I continue to fail on that
I’m afraid I don’t get the reference… never been a great Eagles fan…or is it about Eagles Of Death Metal…

And of course Naim was one of the companies selling LP12-products. I still have the Naim Prefix in my LP12. It can be powered from the 52/252 which is surprising for a Naim-product as it reduce the box-count and make everything nice and tidy. And Prefix to my ears sound better than the internal card in the 52.
There’s GDPR and PECR, trouble is that neither will give literal instructions and the former is a “risk based” approach. So you will get variable responses from different companies.
A company can argue that it’s in their “legitimate interests” to market to someone but if doing so have to perform a legitimate interest assessment and weigh that against the rights of the data subjects.
You can spend days in debates around this stuff with legal / privacy and security. It’s not half as fascinating as I’m obviously making it sound ……
Come on Matt, you are getting the turntable, leave us print fans something.
Hi David, thanks for clarifying, gift horses !
