Any chance of adding Gem Radio New Wave to the internet radio? I think it’s based in Dublin, but I know UK smart speakers aren’t able to play it. Be great if you can sort it, somehow! Thanks. Ian
Hi @RobertPa
RE: Polish Public Radio
Yet another modern HLS playback issue. For all the main polish channels I’ve added in “SD” versions that are the legacy MP3 streams for these stations. Hopefully they should work better on the older products. “HD” is the HLS/AAC stream.
Best regards
Steve
Dear Steve in the Sky,
Just updated my UnitiQute2 to 4.9.40 and have all of my stations back with the exception of BBC News which seems to be offline. The system froze when that couldn’t be added but a reboot brought everything back to normal.
The biggest problem, though, is that while the end of vtuner seems to have affected every streamer back to my 2018 unit, there is no mention of it on the main NaimRadio landing page. There’s also no mention of it on the head of the support page. And there’s no mention of this global update under the FAQs. And if you perform a search, there’s one particularly unhelpful page that presents a choice of Internet Radio Update which, if you click on it, provides you with those same three words in 40pt type! And nothing else!
The only way I managed to find the update was to navigate to support, then Service/Repair. There doesn’t seem to be a direct way to go to firmware updates that I found.
In the interest of others like me that didnt think they had a need to sign up for this forum, could you leave some signposts on the web pages I mentioned? It would be ever so helpful.
Thanks
Hi again, Steve, thanks for fixing some of the Italian stations I had talked to you about last weekend. There’s only one, though, that is not working: RAI Radio 1, both the HD and the SD versions.
Could you please have a look at it?
Thanks a lot,
Andrea.
Hi @MarcoMarti
have checked the scanner log and that station was down today (10/02) for about 3hrs.
Have reviewed the stream URL and it’s the right one to use, so I think this station were just having some technical issues.
Regards
Steve
Hi @Andylu
RE: Rai Radio 1
Have adjusted the legacy (SD) variant to use this MP3 URL:
http://icestreaming.rai.it/1.mp3
The HD one uses the 320k AAC HLS variant.
See if that works any better for SD.
Best
Steve
Hi, Steve, thanks again for your quick reply.
The URL is absolutely correct but it’s not working.
As for the legacy variant, I still get the message “Radio station not available”.
RAI Radio 2 and RAI Radio 3 are ok.
Dear Stevesky,
thank you very much.
The main Polish stations are working perfectly now.
I have one more small request regarding the polish station “Radio Nowy Swiat” - one of the most popular in Poland.
I used to listen to this station via a manually added stream with a higher speed - 256kbit/s. This was an option available to subscribers. Is there a chance to add such an additional stream?
Ciao Steve, thank you indeed for your reply.
Have a good evening.
Marco
There is no requirement to sign up for the forum, to be able to read the numerous posts on the various iradio issues which have affected many Naim owners, over a longer period than might have been desired.
Search should be your friend and even google, with the right phrasing for search, will give direct pointers, to identify the threads.
UQ2 - one here owned from new - a unit that has been discontinued now for a period of seven years.
Naim are to be seriously thanked for the considerable effort that rolling out a new iRadio service, not just for current, but as far as possible, for legacy units.
Easy to personalise your criticism rather than appreciate and acknowledge the wider achievement. No cost change by Naim - perhaps a fee should have been a feature to upgrade the firmware - might reduce the sense of entitlement.
JB Radio 2 HD runs fine in Germany on Qb2, JB Radio 2 doesn’t run on Superuniti nor on Qb2.
Hi Steve,
Don’t know if it’s a pirate station or not, but it was on vTuner. I
I’ve just tried to dind it and it seems the webpage is no longer running, but I did find this, which seems like a newer/updated version:
Could you also see if a station called Audio Emotion HD is able to be added, too?
TIA,
Paul
Hi,
On the sofaradios one i’ll write to the company on the privacy notice of their website and check if it’s a legitimate stream + they are ok for us to add it. In its current form this one doesn’t look legitimate.
Audio Emotion HD - again, this looks very questionable as no reference on the companies website. I’ve written to them asking if it is their stream and if so, they are ok for is to add it go our directory.
When we created this directory we decided to put various validation checks in place. As part of that:
- stations need to be represented by a website, social media or a physical address. Hiding behind another directory service is not acceptable.
- if not broadcasting on DAB/FM/AM then some indication that they are licensed to play copyrighted material / own the rights to the music they are broadcasting. Most show this on their website, or use a service like Laut or Zeno that cover the licensing.
- they can’t be using someone else brand/IP. As an example, a few months ago someone had made a fake Naim Radio on Zeno.fm and was trying to get paypal donations….

Hi @TomGroove
JB Radio keep on changing their servers that they broadcast from.
We’ve resync’d to latest servers for both flac and aac streams.

re: Beyond the Beat Generation
Now added. Took a bit of hunting for the country that it comes from, it’s been assigned to the Netherlands.
