Pond Building.

We have some wetlands in nature reserve across the road. This is maintained by a local trust. Over time these silt up (rather quickly in fact) and for many years they’ve dredged large parts of it on a semi regular basis to keep the resident and visiting wildlife happy. However the task seems to get ever bigger every year! And then there are the questions of fighting nature, what to do with all the stuff dug up etc.

Now as part of reserve management they’re going about it slightly differently and will create some smaller, permanent ‘ponds’ in the expectation this will attract more amphibians and thereby other wildlife on an onging basis.

Looks like they’re going down about 5ft.

For comparsion, this is same spot February 2022, just 19 months ago.
