Sorry, I was being silly.

Sinus not Sonus.
Interesting days….will follow your journey!
Don’t know if Audio Markt or Sound @ home are near you. They have Wilson Benesh speakers.
Called “ the monster fly”.
Thanks. S@h is closer to France than to me Audio Markt I only know as a second hand website. Can’t find a shop by that name, do you know which town?
Audio Markt is in Kohln
I found also Wilson Benesh Germany:
Taurus High End Vertriebs GmbH
One member here, don’t remind who, uses Gauder Akoustik Berlin with 500 series.
That’s closer to Paris than it is to Berlin
But faster from Berlin, because in France you can’t drive faster than 130 km/h
Thanks. Köln is also much closer to France than Berlin Though it’s odd, the website www audio-markt dot de is also registered with an address in Köln, but it’s an online marketplace (for used gear and also some dealers sell there) and I can’t find a shop link there, nor another Audio Markt in Köln. But anyway, not driving to Köln
I had looked a bit into the Gauder Akustik but expensive and somehow not my style visually. Anyways, there are boatloads of good speakers out there and one has to draw a line somewhere, even if it’s sometimes arbitrary. Also got to earn the dosh!
A thing I forgot about the Sehrings is that when needs change (smaller apartment, larger apartment, …), you can change the speakers because they are modular. And when buying a new module, Stefan takes the old one back and you pay only the difference + some handling etc. (They are then taken apart and enter the cycle anew, so it’s pretty environmentally friendly as far as hifi goes). He’s always developing and if I fancy, say, the even higher-end new mid/treble module in 2 years, it can be exchanged - takes an hour and again for a very sensible upgrade price. Very cool.
Well, it’s looks promising. Just hope for you that these speakers work well with Naim. Curious also how they will compare vs Sonus Faber at your home.
I already had them here for a home demo, and oh yes they work well I’ll keep you in the loop, but now that I’m home and not on the phone anymore … *digs in pictures* …
They are also available straight, but the curved version is a bit better (more decoupling between modules, slightly better phase alignment), and visually more interesting to me as well.
Tweeter 26mm ring radiator with wave guide, from Peerless with additional changes
Mid driver 150mm Wavecor with scooped and coated paper membrane
Bass driver 2 x 223mm Wavecor long-stroke woofer with aluminium membrane
Passive driver 223mm, special development by Wavecor, regulated passive paper membrane
3.5-way, transition frequencies 90, 300, 3,100 Hz
Nominal impedance 8 Ohm
Minimal impedance 6 Ohm @86 Hz
Frequency response (-3 dB) 22 – 32,000 Hz
Frequency response (-6 dB) 19 – 39,000 Hz
Sensitivity 2.83 Volt/dB 86 dB
Sensitivity 1 Watt max./dB 85 dB
Distortion at 90dB < 0.3% above 60 Hz
Max. acoustic pressure (distortion 1% above 150 Hz, 1m) 123 db
I think the curves / angles make them look better, it brings a cool futuristic vibe to them.
That -3dB rolloff frequency is really impressive, considering the low sensitivity they must be using some compression chamber approach for the woofers?
They look like Focal
Nice looking , impressive.
They have their own paint mixer, so you can get all colors (separate per module, with 2 possible for the treble/mid box), so I played around a looong time with combinations, but in the end settled for white anyway. He’ll also repaint them for a reasonable fee if I get bored. (No veneers though)
When looking at speaker specs I did think about your input regarding deep bass in some older discussion Yeah, it’s all quite complex and well thought out. The cabinets use stressed resonance damping (the faces are connected by metal rods under tension) and are internally quite complexly multi-chambered. The passive membrane (not connected to the crossover) replaces what would be the reflex port, but can be mechanically and electrically tuned for the room and taste.
There is soon-ish going to be a new website in English as well, I hope before I have to write my big post in the new gear thread
Indeed, the curved version looks similar. Same reason, too. Well, the Focal guys have more money invested in fancy wood bending tools, obviously
I think their approach would be popular in NL as well, they should consider opening a distribution point here.
They are actually serving Europe, but nobody knows They have a pretty special and super nice approach to business. But as mentioned there will be a new website soon and they have been starting to do some work with media and so on. I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be the last you hear from them.
They also have made their factory CO2 neutral and trying to source in Europe (90%, the Wavecors are from China). Spread the word in NL!
By the way, setup involves initially a basic setup and adjustment of crossover, passive membrane etc. Then after a few months run-in we’ll spend several hours fine tuning. (He can also leave crossover parts for do-it-yourself, the crossover is easy to flip out at the back and parts can be exchanged). Setup is part of the purchase price. Room can be measured too, and he also advises on room treatment if desired. That’s a pretty compelling package, difficult to match by an off-the-shelf speaker that either works in a room or not.
And now that I have written so much already (wanted to save most of that for the new gear thread when I have photos of assembly), this is also the place to say big thanks to @krautnaimie for this post in the system pics thread when I introduced the new system still with the old speakers:
And very true, @Mulberry:
Sorry to OP for hijacking
Just had a peek at their website, what a great idea!
Since the wife is involved weird ugly stuff isn’t going to work. ProAc have excellent resolving power with out being overly bright. They’re easy to drive and their choice of veneers is great. You said budget is 15 is that UK or US?
I’m guessing not to big ?
