So despite the 3rd party link provided to blatantly show the SSL error on the Qobuz site, you still believe its not their fault?? Bizarre
Tanks Jerome
It shows the problem of an ecosystem which is fully on streaming. It again shows the poor service of Qobuz of not having 24/7 like any normal company has. I guess given the holiday it might only be solved on Tuesday.
I have been using it for the past three years and I canāt recall it ever crashing. Some connectivity issues on occasion but having worked in IT since 1983 I have experienced a few problems with connectivity along the way from vendors large and small, some software, some hardware, sometimes someone doing construction and cutting a line. The Naim app could certainly be improved but outside of this recent issue with Qobuz the last couple of days it has been excellent since the introduction of the new streamers. In the old streamers it was more of a buffering issue with hardware the app issueā¦
Could the feature/functionality be improved, that is quite possible. I just hope that people demonstrate the product before bring home. I believe a lot of users take every feature/functionality that have seen from every other vendor and expect the Naim app to do the same and then when it does not get disappointed and upset.
Hi
I have replied in the original thread to avoid going off topic here
Thanks
Well I am listening to QoBuz on my manky NDS via a bridge and Roon and Iām almost fealing jealous that others cannot when I can.
It does seem prudent for an app to check that the SSL certificate is valid and genuine when connecting, itās a pity only 2 vendors seem to have considered that this was a good idea. Very remiss of QoBuz not to renew although they are not the first and certainly wonāt be the last.
Iān sure most people would heed a browser warning about an invalid SSL certificate when connecting to a website, even people without 35 years experience in IT.
If is frustrating, but it is very difficult, and the tech expensive, to prevent this type of issue.
There was a well publicised issue with o2 and Ericsson where a certificate expiry impacted 32 million users, estimated loss £100m, and a number of similar issues in the financial industry.
When it is resolved, it shouldnāt reoccur for at least a year, prob much longer, as certs generally have a lifespan of at least a yearā¦
Nope thatās it, Iāve given up, and has completely put me in a mood! Several things I wanted to listen to tonight and Qobuz not working with Naim and Qobuz via chromecast plays for a few seconds then stops, then comes on again and repeats the process! ![]()
What a hautin behaviour from naim and itās (apparently) blind followers. Convinced they know better. If it works for so many other clients, at least doubt yourself. Do not throw your weight around. As for the naim app on clients Android: I am forced to use it to control my 6000 euro NDX2, a very impressive HiFi component, specially combined with a power supply. Once it plays from Qobuz at HighRes, there is no better sound from streaming. Since I use the app, it resets itself at least once an hour, going back to the start screen. And donāt get me started on the usability issues, itās near impossible to manipulate (let alone manage) your music library with it. If there was an alternative for the app, iād be long gone. Roon does not qualify: there is noticable loss of sound quality on a high-end HiFi chain. It is a real shame that an real good high-end HiFi component as the NDX2 is so let down by its control app. The total package does not deliver an experience of in total some 10.000 euro. So yes, I am very angry at naim, not misdirected at all. The only misdirection here is the blind support for a misrable app, because it caries the naim name.
Try with setting it to CD quality only.
I have a problem with dropouts when streaming HiRes from Qobuz through Chromecast.
Yes, the naim app with Qobuz is not working but having a NAS with a couple of thousand CDās and Downloaded albums availble for local streaming works. Also the internet radio stations are working just fineā¦
Lots of choices but do hope that Qobuz gets up and running on Monday.
Chromecast possible throughput seems to depend on sender. My phone supports only cd Quality. My newer tablet supports hires.
Did that m, well down to 96 as thatās how I used to have it to not get drop outs before the Qobuz integration update.
Have you been in contact with your dealer or Naim support. The Qobuz problem is at their end, this has been raised by Naimā¦but its a weekend in France. If you look back in the thread there us a link provided by @Stevesky which shows its a Qobuz certificate problem.
Or try another control point?
Roger
I think itās handy to identify the problem. By saying itās Qobuz here (cause it is) does not detract from the bad quality of the Naim app or the firmware stability. It helps folk not reinstall everything ten times as that is the standard fix for things going wrong with the software on Naim.
Make no mistake the app is not great and itās not accessible to screen readers so it excludes a large group of people from even using the Naim product. But for this issue itās Qobuz and nothing Naim does can fix it.
My naim app works perfectly well and the firmware is stable. Never had to reinstall everything.
Maybe I have just been lucky.
āBut for this issue itās Qobuz and nothing Naim does can fix it.ā Then why does it work for all but 2 clients, such as naim? Because naim is better at SW development than all the other clients? Read your own statement on the quality of the naim app, and the firmware, and you will understand just how silly this sounds.
And naim can fix it: if there is a solution that works for all but 2 clients, that could (should have been) be implemented by naim (from the beginning). It feels that naim and itās followers are very defensive, I wonder why? Afraid some people will demand a refund? Perhaps we should.
Bud, I simply tried to explain the issue at hand to assist folk in not thinking itās their system setup. I also reset my system a few times last night thinking itās buggy firmware.
Now itās been explained as an expired secure socket layer certificate. With proof.
So again. Native qobuz apps are not āexternalā to qobuz and wonāt suffer from this. And if another vendor ignores web security protocol, enjoy the music, just donāt be upset it someone hacks into your network or takes over your subscription.
