I happen to work in the cyber security industry so know of this issue only too well.
I too have had instabilities with Naim software, App and operating systems. But on this occasion, the Naim software is doing the right thing in rejecting the Qobuz connection, and I look forward to Qobuz resolving the issue.
Iāve re authorised the account and that appears to have fixed the problem, thanks for the tip. Also Hires is working from Qobuz via Mconnect HD and an iPad into my Superunitiā¦surprisingly good so farā¦weāll see!
I would suggest that you revisit your posts to review who is throwing their weight around.
If you are experiencing constant crashes with the Naim app then I would suggest that you contact either Naim support or engage with a knowledgeable dealer who can assist in getting your network sorted. I have been using the Naim app (Android and IOS) since 2012 and have never experienced crashes like you are having.
Roon is an excellent albeit pricey alternative and if properly implemented will sound as good as streaming controlled from the Naim application with local storage. This is what I now use after extensive comparisons in a revealing system. If it doesnāt then again there are issues with your implementation that need to be resolved.
Finally you donāt seem to have a grasp as to why this is happening. Whilst superficially it looks bad that only 2 vendors have this problem itās very clear that QoBuz have made an error in allowing their certificate to expire. Itās hardly Naims fault that they have chosen to check for a valid certificate rather than taking a sloppy āon error - resume nextā approach to the problem.
Please read Steveskyās post above - it explains what has happened. From what I understand, this can only be fixed at the Qobuz end.
As for the issues you say you are having with the App, I would advise you to get in touch with your dealer, or else Naim tech support and give them as much information surrounding your issues as possible. They will then try to help you work through them.
My network does not create any errors on any other apps or devices, but if the naim app (on Android!) fails, then the problem must be with my network.
Roon is known to introduce some slight differences in phasing between channels, and I did confirm that on a single blind test on my system. As before: the HW part of naim is the very best. But to Roon or not to Roon, is not the question.
With regards to the problem at hand. Apparently Roon still works at the current moment, as do all but 2 Qobuz clients. So what information do you have to suggest that the problem is not with naim in the interpretation of the data provided by Qobuz? I mean, other then blind believe in what is stated bij Naim SW, that have proven themselves to be perfect SW developers, NOT. If you are part of the minority where things go wrong, you should at least ask yourself why. And some of you will say: they did, they stopt the inquiry into the certificate of the Qobuz site, and it worked. But did naim SW truly consider a wrong interpretation of the data? Iām sure they did not.
Because anything created by naim, in this forum and worse - by naim SW themselves - is considered to be god-like infallible. That is the definition of hautain. There are some individuals that have the audacity to state that the app and the firmware are not beyond reproach. Are you sure do not need to cast them out?
Let me leave you with the slightly longer version of the joke this reminds me of. An elderly man is driving on the motorway. On the radio, a ghost rider is announced on the stretch he is driving. His reaction: ONE ghost rider? Theyāre ALL going the wrong way.
The joke: naim SW development is behaving like an elderly man. If the market could just allow naim to revert to a hifi HW firm, my hifi system would be much better of.
Had hoped it would be fixed first thing this monday but this is a holiday monday in the Netherlands so maybe also elsewhere. Happy I found this forum !!
As an elderly man (UK govt definition) I feel deeply insulted by your final comments. Wherever you go from here, please think twice before making ageist remarks. Age discrimination in the workplace is banned in the EU and basic politeness suggests avoiding it in a public forum.
I just received an answer from my mail to Naim Support, that I sent yesterday in regards to the issue of not being able to stream Qobuz through the Naim app:
Thank you for your enquiry, i hope you and your loved ones are remaining safe and well.
Iām sorry you have experienced this issue, here at Naim we are aware of the issue and we are working to rectify this issue as quickly and efficiently as possible, it will be back up and running so you can enjoy Qobuz shortly. It appears there may be an issue with certification between Qobuz and the integration into our products, the relevant team have been informed and this is all hand. Once again, apologies for this issue.
Yes, 1 June is a public holiday in France, so it is possible that the Qobuz people have minimal tech cover in. It is a nuisance that I cannot use Qobuz, but compared to the other stuff going around, I have parked that as an annoyance only.
Having moved to the ND5XS2 from a Bluesound Node 2, I have noticed a lot of differences with the App. The Bluesound App/ Node firmware was almost constantly updating, I guess at least monthly. Since owning the ND5XS2, I have come to believe that the Naim environment goes between larger upgrades. Why did Bluesound feel it necessary to update so much? If it was in response to external factors, then the low pace of Naim updates could be a concern. Donāt get me wrong, I appreciate that this Qobuz issue looks like they dropped the baton, but my other App related issues have never been resolved by Naim tech support and it does make me wonder how frustrated I will get in the longer term.
Iām not subscribed to Qobuz but do subscribe to Tidal via the Naim app and have not experienced any problems with the app crashing. It was a bit clunky at the very beginning but ever since the latest FirmWare update it has been absolutely faultless. Iām a bit puzzled as to why some folks here are having such problems. Even here in wireless operation, it just works. Itās fast, responsive and a pleasure to use with my ND5 XS 2.
