Would you be willing to share more details? What type of item was it and what problems did the lack of airflow cause?
I can see the need to keep sources of heat well ventilated and to avoid covering any ventilation holes, but I don’t think there’s any source of heat in an LP12 that could problems without adequate airflow and the cover is not blocking any ventilation holes.
My SA Serene arrived Saturday. Only had the chance to play a couple of records via headphones last night - have to say it seemed to have a good effect. Awaiting a longer play when I’ve time to myself.
From a purely aesthetic point of view the SA Serene stabiliser looks great and far better than the Tangerine Audio Evenstar but I suppose any choice should be purely down to the uplift in the sound so as an LP12 owner myself it would be interesting to hear your thoughts once you have had the time to evaluate its performance.

RB300, I think. the 250 had a different bearing housing.

I decided I needed to join this club! I’m picking up LP-12 Friday to plug into my Nait 50. Pretty low spec to most here- Majik with Adikt cart but I did throw down for the Lingo 4. I went with Oak as the dealer had that as a low hour trade up, wasn’t in love with it when we talked on the phone and I was looking at pics online but when I saw it in person I loved the grain on this particular deck.
I’ll post a pic once it’s set up.

Are stack audio still selling their sub chassis stuff? They did a complete alternative to Keel and base plate, cross brace, top plate?

Yeah. That was my thinking. I have seen used LP12s with stack audio stuff including Radikal 1 power supply on ebay for low money staying there for ages.
It’s a niche product and makes resell and support limited as not many about.
Look, maybe stack audio and mushrooms sound fantastic. But it’s no longer an LP12. It’s a modded turntable with little resale value.
The Tangerine Audio upgrades now appear to be very well respected. But again unless you are keeping forever you will never get the money back on them.
@NickofWimbledon picked up his with £7k of TA upgrades, including Radikal 1, Ekos, Keel for £9k.
It’s a case of resale and support that I would be concerned about.

They have been out of the “LP12 upgrades business” for quite a while now, I believe they are actively trying to sell the rights. It is a shame IMO, as I believe they had the most effective and cost efficient LP12 enhancements on the market. I feel lucky that I was able to put two LP12s together using their parts, they perform extremely well and what I paid for was very reasonable.

I saw a site that sold all the Stack Audio upgrades for 6k. So that the sub chassis, top plate, brace, tonearm plate, base, sub base. Alot of different parts. All aluminium. Looks very good and very clever. It’s really interesting what they were doing.

They were the only ones in the business seeking to reduce vibrations in every component they made. All others, Linn included, were tweaking and voicing the many vibration induced colorations, catering to the customer base that craved the house Linn sound. StackAudio broke away from the house Linn sound and came up with the most neutral sounding LP12, but paid the consequences of not providing what the niche market wanted.
