Graeme, I’m listening to Laughing Len right now and they certainly play his voice very nicely. I’m also learning to balance the hearing aid volume and the system volume, which is a new challenge.

Mrs HH is really really happy with the speakers now we have the oak pair. Her theory is that they remind her of the Kans I had when we first met in 1984, so it’s like we are young again! Looks-wise of course, rather than sound. They are a far more balanced proposition than the rather unrelenting Kan.

Nope, quite the opposite.

‘Laughing Len’ made me laugh out loud!

Yours and hers, of course!

In our dreams!

Apologies as it is probably posted somewhere in here but what finish are they, always been tempted by the tablette, owned Studio 100’s couple of speakers back, probably never got the best out of them in the system and room they were in, but the custom Target stands are still deployed under one of the pairs of Guru QM10’s I use. Always something special about a tasty small speaker. Look fantastic in your system/room.

They are boring old natural oak.

They look really special, the Ebony ones always look good on the sites, but not sure about in the flesh, food for thought.

Hi Stuart - yes, you’re right - the SBLs were smaller than I expected and the SL2s seemed quite imposing in comparison when they arrived. In fact although I had wanted to get the SL2s to replace the Harbeths and regarded the SBLs as a compromise, I became very satisfied with the SBLs. I ended up with the SL2s because someone had noticed my aspiration expressed online and offered me their SL2s. Still, they are a significant upgrade to the SBLs as far as SQ is concerned.

Interesting Clive. Fwiw I never did think SL2s were better, just different and a bit more polished. I find the older design grabs me more. As ever I understand my opinion goes against the accepted view but hey ho!

I just saw the photo of HHs new system and the footprint of the Tabs looks similar to my SBLs once you take the stands into account tbh. Looks good though!

Yes the footprint is not much difference to the floor standers the tabs replaced in my system, not sure any standmount really saves on space but you do have more space in between rather than a solid mass. infact mine are a little bit wider due to the tripod stands I chose. But they do not overpower the room like my old speakers did to easily.

I have already contributed a few months ago in System Pics thread, so here is a slightly different perspective. Currently the V1 is under the desk sitting on a custom oak rack, right on top of SN2. I needed some custom “stands” so I bring them on ear level, so this solid oak blocks work marvellous, although not the very best as far as looks are concerned, but I like them. I have tried putting them on IsoAcoustics Iso Pucks, but could not get along with the sound, they sounded kind of thin with those, a bit too much holographic.

Currently contemplating to replace ProAc’s speaker jumpers with NAC A5 ones, so they match my speaker cable. Would appreciate any comments if anyone had any experience with any different than the default ones and whether any improvement has been detected and what aspects in particular?

Other than that Sigs are simply stunning.

I replaced mine with some NACA5 jumpers I found on the bay. Very happy with them powering my D2R’s which are in the same speaker family so to speak as the tabs.

Great looking speakers that are smartly designed to be near the wall. I wanted a pair but sadly my taste, room and ears were seduced by the SCM 11 V2 that are, frankly, hideous looking and need a bit of space. Luckily I am single lol. What cartridge are you getting for your Rega? The Dynavector high outputs work great with the Naim MM phono stages.

I tried the SCM 11 and indeed still have them here, waiting to go back to the shop later today. They are very good speakers and have a bigger fuller sound than the Tabs. They worked ok about 15cm from the wall but really need a bit more. While still small they are in fact quite large and looked very dominating on the 60cm stands. The cherry veneer seemed really brown and they looked quite depressing with it without the grilles. Mrs HH would have been happy to have them on SQ grounds and really didn’t mind their idiosyncratic looks. But it was me that ruled them out because part of the aim of this project was to make everything smaller and more discreet.

We’ve been using the Ania and a Fono on the Planar 6, but as the SN3 has a phono stage we are moving to an Ortofon 2M Black, purely for simplification. I discussed the Dynavector 10x5 with my dealer who suggested it might sound a little on the dull side and was much more positive about the Ortofon. So I just took advice and the reviews of the 2M seem positive. I know @marcusman uses it with the SN and T10S so hopefully it will be ok. We shall see.

Interestingly Mrs HH, who loves music but tends to be underwhelmed with the whole hifi thing is really positive about the new setup. We were listening to a Stefano Bollani album and she declared that it was sounding better than before. While the sense of grandeur has reduced the sense of engagement has increased. That’s another thing I was looking for as with my hearing loss, some of the nuances are gone and I wanted to focus on engagement and the spirit of the performance. Somehow that has been delivered, perhaps through a large slice of luck. Having said that, the very good source I now have, which is a real step up from what I had before, is clearly playing a large part.

My local Audio T have been great, loaning me the Naim gear and the ATCs and stands. It’s given me the time to think it through and make sure nothing was rushed. While all the previous stuff is sold I could still choose something other than the SN3 and NDX2, but I think they are great and I’m sticking with them.

Good morning. My name is Jamu. I follow this thread with interest. I too must have speakers close to wall. My walls are plaster. So thin walls. So I must be careful. I have nap 300 which I love very much. Do you think this amplifier is too much for Tablette? I love sound signature of getting small speakers to sing beautiful. Best wishes. Jamu

I think a 300 with them would be lovely.

This thread is terrible! I must look away and get some calamine lotion!

Thank you. I will find some for demonstration. Best. Jamu
