I loved my Tab 10’s with my Atom but when I changed to a Nova it just didn’t work. Not really logical and I can’t explain why - it’s just what I felt. Changed to PMC 25.21’s and much better. YMMV
Seen lots of positive comments about the Signatures , the Nova has a fair bit of power to it and I would have no qualms about matching the Signatures with the XS3, SN3, Star or Nova with them .
At ten ohms and 86 DB , I think even the Atom would be good
I’m not really sure that I can make a helpful contribution here, but I’ll try.
You will see from my profile that I run the Tabs bigger brother, DB1’s, with my Nova. I have been doing so for three & a half years, more than happily. They are often listened to at low volume, fairly often at what I feel is a comfortable listening volume & very occasionally (when wife & neighbours are out) a bit louder still!
I find the sound more than acceptable at any of these levels so would assume the Tabs would present a similar load to the Nova. I have never heard any Tabs but my dealer speaks highly of them & often tells of a long term customer who runs them with over £40,000 (in 2016, so quite a bit more now I presume) of Naim amplification & produces some of the best sound he has heard from any system in a normal domestic environment. He used the Tabs because, I am told, he is extremally limited for space.
You didn’t say if you liked the standard Tabs with your Nova, but if you did I assume you will be auditioning the Signatures? If you are, & have room for slightly larger speakers, why not try the DB1’s as well? You may find they are your cup of tea &, selfishly, I would be interested to hear how you think they stack up against the Tabs!
I’ll buy that.

I suspected you may agree…

It is just a matter of time before a Tablettes 10 owner upgrades to the Statements to fully (without looking foolish) realize their infinite potential…
I got a home demo of the Signatures with my Nova. So very well made, perfect size for what I want, looked good in my set up, detailed, good soundstage etc. However, they just don’t work in my room. To be clear, the room is the lounge, it has a fair amount of air (high ceilings) and glass. To changes can be made, save for closing the curtains…
To reiterate the purpose: lower to mid level listening in evenings to jazz and acoustic with a glass of red. They appeared bright and shouty, difficult to listen to at times. I was quite surprised by this as I really wanted them to suit the room and the system (and my tastes). It was female vocals and the higher end of the acoustic guitar that had sibilance and harshness. I added a sub and this did smooth things out somewhat, but the issues remained. I’d say it was mainly my room that is the issue. I auditioned the non Signature Tabs in a showroom and liked them with my Nova. What a shame, I really wanted this to work out!
Pic of room (with the Focal Arias, which will be moving on soon). I realise this is far from the ideal set up and I may well not find what I’m looking for. I just want some music in here haha. FYI the current front runners are the Neat Iota Alpha but no home demo yet.
I found the same brightness. I have a lot of glass and hard surfaces and found the Nova and ATC SCM11 to be a much better match. My room below
Thanks, funnily enough, the ATC SCM 11 are exactly the speaker I have on home demo today! So far so good.
Hi @conlegno, do you think your Tabs have run in by now? If so, I’d still be quite interested in your impression of them, and a comparison with the Alphas!
I’m asking because I haven’t made much progress yet in my quest for new speakers; weeks ago Germany’s ProAc distributor promised me to send a pair of Tablette Signatures for listening purposes once he gets hold of them, but I haven’t heard of him since. Next week I will travel to a Neat dealer and test the new Petite Classic, plus the Ministras.
The Neat comparison is a great one CologneChap
I had the Ministra’s and purchased a pair of the Petite 30 anniversaries ( Petite Classic very similar I believe)
They both have strong points. In the end I kept the Petites for the wider sound stage and to me a slightly overall more integrated sound
Tough call though as the Ministra’s have a deeper base being isobaric design but the sound stage is a bit narrow if that’s the right word
I would still have the Ministra’s though if Petites hadn’t come up, I was happy with them
Let me know when you do the comparison , both are great
Cheers
Bevo, last Friday I had the chance to compare both Neats, and like you, I’d prefer the Petite over the Ministra.
Without a doubt I found the Petite the most engaging of the speakers I auditioned. The dealer only had the 30s in store, but he assured me that the new Classic line sounds virtually the same. The pair he had sounded so vivid and natural, combined with a great soundstage. When the dealer swapped them for the Ministras, I immediately felt that the music played one metre closer to the floor, if that makes sense.
The bass the Petite produced was also astonishing for such a small speaker. While I feel that the Petite may reach similar low frequencies as the Ministra, I must admit that the latter’s bass sounded more refined, i.e. it was easier to isolate bass notes and lines in the mix. But taken all together, the Petites sounded the most captivating. Just lovely.
I also listened to Fyne Audio’s F500SP. They sounded pretty great, too, but to my ears especially the mids sounded coloured compared with either pair of Neats.
After all the great things I’ve read about the Tablette, ideally I’d still love to try them, but I’m afraid that several more months will have passed until that happens. And really, under the constrains of our living room and pockets, I can hardly imagine that a different speaker can sound much better to my ears than the Petite.
Have to say when I heard the Petites recently they were captivating, previously had the Ministras on home dem and didn’t have the freedom of expression or joy of the Petites.
Good to hear back from you Cologne , yes same conclusions as myself , a great little speaker the Petite 30’s
They are a bit pricy due to the piano finish so if the Petite Classic are as good then they are a bargain
Thanks for responding
Cheers

Good one Adam , yep agree with your findings

Hi @CologneChap,
sorry for the late feedback i was on vacation and started to write an answer to your question, but somehow never managed to finish my reply…
I had planned to do a more extensive side by side comparison before leaving for vacation but i only had time to listen to a few tunes on the Iota‘s after the Tabs were in the system for around 6-7 weeks. So take the following impressions with a grain of salt…
I thought the Iota‘s would be cripser and more airy but i was quite underwhelmed when i hooked them back up onto the system. While the Tabs sounded quite unspectacular at first they seemed to open quite nicely after these few weeks. Soundstage is really wide and the treble is very detailed without beeing fatiguing. But these apply to the Iota‘s as well…
The bass is lacking compared to the Iota‘s. Eventhough it is well integrated into the frequency band and sounds coherent, it might be a good idea to think about adding a subwoofer for certain kinds of music. I use a small Kef sub and it does a good job by complementing everything under 60hz.
I am still not sure which one i will keep at the end, i can be happy with either of them but the Tabs may be more suited to my current arrangement of the room as they are pushed back almost against the front wall to free up some space and be less intrusive. The Iota needed around 40cm from the wall to sound good, so take that into consideration as well.
At the end of the day you really need to try both for yourself. You seem to be in Germany, so it should be quite easy to order a pair of both speakers and try it in your room if you cannot demo them at the same dealer (i think both brands are not very well distributed in Germany)
I will at some point do a more extensive comparison, probably around Christmas and will report back if anybody is still interested ![]()
After selling all of my systems (Qute,nDAC,72/HC/140) months ago, and so the “T10s”, I know now, that I can’t live witout them.
I ask my buyer to sell me back the T10s. so it will be done in few months when he will have his homemade new speakers.
now I have to think about the electronics.
I would like to go for a “little” system but staying withNAIM.
juste for listening music on sunday afternoon.
can a little NAIT 5si can drive the T10s without fear, or should I go to the NAIT XS3 ?
I know the SN3 will be the good choice BUT i have to think about the budget.
for listening to pop/rock/classical
thanks everyone
My 50 cents worth of free advice is to go to the Nait XS level. I have had the SN1, a Nait XS, and a Nait 5i and found the latter to struggle a bit playing through the old (“original”) Tablette Sigs.
