Streamer for Nait 50

Some people prefer to close their eyes for the sound quality, persuading themselves it’s good enough, and have eyes opened for the nice looking.

Had same thoughts…pre-ordered the standard silver one…didn’t think the gold master edition looks would suit the Nait 50.

And I am thinking the SQ of the std one will be a good match, albeit the master edition should be better SQ (at a premium).

However, I haven’t heard either yet… :crossed_fingers:

And some people are primarily interested in the music quality rather than the sound quality. I have found that it’s quite possible to enjoy deeply satisfying music on the Node as is (provided the down stream amp and speakers are good). Can you improve? Of course.

Of course. But personally if I had a system with 3 k integrated and 2/3 k speakers, I would not content myself with a Node bare as a source. Or only if streaming is not for serious listening and if my main source was better.
As for enjoying music, you can sometimes be more involved in a car or through a portable player while skiing.

Hi all
I have a Nait 50, I am using a Cambridge MXN10 using his analog out and a oldie Linn Majik CD player and both sound really nice, jumping between Naim’s IBL and Sterlings LS3/5a V2, its been a fun weekend

Did you get one?

Not yet, but I’m seriously considering it. I might be gifted some old BeoLab 6000 (in good condition) speakers in the near future and thought paired with the Eversolo they could be a nice second system.

Just see a new contender , Ifi Neo Stream , 1,3 k. Not bad looking, but silver only.

Lejonklou has tweaked the software on the receiving end to optimize AirPlay/Spotify together with the internal DAC. Been to a demo and really makes Spotify sing like no other. But it is EUR 6000 so perhaps a bit over the budget in this case. But still good VFM even at that price.

The Argon Audio Solo for EUR 300 (dont know if its avail in the UK) sounds very upbeat and fun and supports Spotify and Airplay 2. And you can always upgrade it with a linear PS.

Just posted this on the Nait 50 thread…

Mrs Pud went to Singing group this evening so took opportunity to commission the Eversolo…

Easy to set up, app is good, lots of ‘setting’ options…even the volume knob white ring brightness level !

The Linn DSM/2 is wired into the '50 stream input, the Eversolo into the '50 aux input, so I can toggle between the 2 streamers…

Only had it fired up for 40 mins…comparing Radio Paradise and Qobuz…

Initial thoughts, WOW, it is pretty damn good…and at this stage a relative close call £ for £…the Linn is more nuanced and detailed, the ES may have a touch more slam…

A perfect partner for the '50 methinks…

Very early days yet, for the money the ES seems very, very, very, interesting…lots more listening to do.

In a few days I will fire the 552/500 back up and wire both streamers into the main system for further comparisons…meanwhile :notes:

Seen nothing but very positive reviews for the DMP-A6.

We are wondering whether it would extend life of our SU in the office (for half price of an ND5XS2). There’s a dealer which would involve an AirBnB and a nice restaurant, which would keep SWMBO happy, if we decide to demo.

All the reviews have been very positive, my view was that if it was half as good as the reviews then it would be at least good enuf - I bought it blind…so far so good… :crossed_fingers:

Reminds me of one of my first Naim demo’s. On holiday we happened to walk in to a dealer in Berlin, who convinced us to have a listen in the demo room, once there we got carried away (un)fortunately. After that he started pushing us to take the Naim (NaimUniti2? not sure) home for a demo. At this point we were too embarrassed to tell him we were only on holiday and he kept pushing us so much that we almost ended up taking it back to our hotel room…

I bought one and after three days of listening I am happy with it. It’s not a Naim streamer, the look is a bit bling and there are quite a lot of features which I am not using. Also the UI is something which can be a dealbreaker for some (good enough for me though). However, I like it and plan to use it with Nait 50 (but there might be a long wait for that).

A temporary placement

Would the DAC be ‘good’ enough to put a CD Transport into it?

Good question, I can try it with the Audiolab 6000CDT…

I have a low cost Tangent CD II that I’d intended to hook up to the '50 system, could be either RCA (own DAC), or optical via the ES. I would expect the ES to be better…

Ooh yes please, if you get the chance!

Esp. the Audiolab…

How does it compare to the competition, vs Bluesound Node or Eversolo, if you could have make the comparison ?

For what it’s worth (not very much) I use a UnitiQute as a source /DAC into my Nova . The Nova is going , but I have checked and the UQ2 can deliver internet radio into the Nova and it is just a change of lead so that it can continue it’s duties as before

The 6000 CDT is an absolute bargain on a sound per pound basis
