Having a cable flipped is a bit unintuitive. I was really careless.
On the one side of the NACA cable there is a āridgeā to help you distinguish the positive and negative side. You can feel it with your finger. Usually the āridgeā is on the positive side, but of course this is not obligatory, especially when you start swapping left & right. Hopefully this helps to figure out which cable goes where!
Personally I would have both sa8 plugs at the back of the amp with the cables coming downwards. Fix the left hand one at the speaker end by applying nice new heatshrink to mark positive and negative correctly.
Or just get a normal cable with banana plugs and let go
If you have +ve at the amp end connected to +ve at the speaker end on both cables, thatās correct. I used to have my NAP135s plugged in like you show in this picture because the cables were made up for a standard stereo amp. But rather than having one cable going down and the other going up, my Naim retailer twisted the pins in one of the plugs - problem solved.
Exactly my sentiments on the new remotes (oh yes on my NDX2 too). Would have much preferred the old plastic and finish. The glossy finish makes it prone to scratch and looks ācheapā.
Richard?
Oh my. There should only be one and only Richard here!
This had me scrambling round the back of my SN3 this morning as from memory I just slammed the plugs into the back without giving it a second thought. Fortunately the team at Signals cater for this when terminating the Kudos KS1 cable with Naim connectors. I must have paid some attention (or got lucky as 50/50 chance) that I used the cables the right way round, both hang down but they swap the connections at amp end to be correct way with positives on the outside track.
Speaking of jumpers, do you have any recommendations? I donāt know what price range or brand I should be looking at, and what kind of material tend to work well with Naim.
If your running A5 Iād use that.
If you use NacA5 you should use the same for the jumpers. Iād advise that you solder two sets of the pins from Naim SA8 plugs to make an F connection. Thatās even better than jumpers.
Did you mean diagonal connection?
No, F. Iāve now added the explanatory photo.
I see! I didnāt see the pictures.
Is this the same as bi-wire?
No. Biwire uses two sets of wires.
I see, thank you very muchļ¼
Just replaced the metal bar jumpers on my Tablette 10s with 4mm OFC copper speaker wire, same as I run from the amp. Canāt tell any difference at all.
