Perhaps mrs @JogoVogo has a wardrobe of the same size and a separate room for her shoes.
@JogoVogo please say yes because I can’t handle the truth.

Awesome room. Much better than just pic of the lovely rack.
Yes Stu, very impressed with the 272. I’ve had better Naim pre’s before, but i like this 272/250DR combo, greater than the sum of its parts i think.
Good thing a lot of us haven’t given up yet and still wearing our suffer-ring.
They are Kudos Titan 606 Stu. The bass is phenomenally good.
the room is 20x17x8 (feet) which is a good size room, but not a good match for the Focals. I have another thread about my journey through room treatments and there was lots of talk about frequency response… I had GIK do sound analysis, which showed a lot of reflection points in the room. To my ears, before adding room treatments the bass was trapped behind the speakers, leaving more of a quiet low frequency at the listening chair. After treatments the sound dispursed, and today there is a smoother, more satisfying amount of bass in the sweet spot. But I’m still not hearing the Scala V2s perform at the low end. The speakers can be brute, but that’s not what I’m getting. This is a 2nd floor room above a garage, so it’s not the most solid structure for a “listening room”. I really believe the room and the speakers are not a good match, however I still have plans on tinkering with these Focals. They have a big sound that I have enjoyed, but I will be auditioning a few pairs of hometown speakers in the near future… mostly because it sounds like a good time
Never compared like for like. I’ve heard Accuphase a couple years back. Maxed out high end system with their top DAC, pre and monoblocks into Avant Guard horns and then into B&W 802s. It was great but a little dark for my taste. A lot of high end gear seems to be dark and heavy to my ears.
In terms of design philosophy Luxman and Accuphase are at pretty opposite ends of the scale. Luxman have a lot of design preferences that overlap with Naim. Cosmetically, Accuphase and Luxman like their knobs and switches but otherwise have no similarities.
The speakers are about four and a half feet apart.
Yes it would be nice to have them further apart but it doesn’t really work in this room unless you compromise the arrangement of seating which would spoil the ‘social space’. There’s another chair at a similar angle to the one in the picture but pointing down the room facing the Fraim rack which I use for listening. With friends round we can all see each other. I really dislike rooms where all the seats are in a line, great for TV etc but not good for socialising.
Ideally the TV would be between the speakers and the small sideboard would be removed. This would allow the speakers to be further apart. The trouble with that arrangement is that there would only be one chair suitable for TV watching!
It doesn’t seem to be an issue. I’ve noticed with the NAP 300 now in charge that the room feels far more driven than before and the sound doesn’t seem to come from the speakers anywhere near as much.
I’m not really into all this soundstage stuff but now I notice it far more than I used to and the soundstage appears to come from beyond the boundaries of the speakers, especially the left one. I mainly listen off axis towards the right hand side of where the picture was taken.
Does it make a difference . My hi fi set up is in my basement and the room has been tanked so headroom is only about 7 -8 feet
Somewhat coherent with what i heard from my cousin ( my hifi reviews reference ).
Personally, The only Japanese I’ve got acess ( audition) was Esoteric . Liked a lot. Was always curious about Accuphase and Luxman
Hopefully your new system will be unboxed and on these pages soon?
Looking forward to it
Of course it does.
But I wouldn’t use diffusion on a low ceiling, especially not that kind.
I would use some broadband absorber, like GIK Acoustic Monster Bass Trap. But it could be challenging to install.
An interesting alternative would be Vicoustic Cinema Round Premium. It is made out of high density foam, so not as broad band as rockwool based absorbers (careful with that).
I use a few of these. They greatly improved the stereo image.
EDIT : just saw a picture of your listening room. In your context, with some DIY, you can achieve great results.
New addition to the cabin rig, Rega Planar 3 joins its stablemates and Densen , sits atop a vintage Seismic Sink. Aria will return to the SN3 Naim system when the internal phono card for the B100 turns up from the Danes.
Thank you!
Getting into the Christmas Spirit. Extra points for guessing the film blurred on the TV screen - and yes, it is B&W.
I’m more concerned about those chocolate animals under the TV. Have you eaten any yet?
No, but my wife is certain that my resolve will waiver!
Aliens vs Predator?
“Resistance is futile…”
LOL
Although those two are standard Christmas fare for us. We gather the youngsters in the living room to watch the jolly monsters wreak mayhem on the poor unsuspecting innocents. We top the day off with The Exocist and Apocolypto before packing the little ones off to their beds. They can never get to sleep, just too excited with the season of good will methinks.
