Beautiful record library! The record player is superbly integrated too. Congratulations.
Nice idea, can you put folks out of their misery and confirm it’s a rendered image
The Record Room, designed by Kepenek, might actually be real, couldn’t quite work it out. From Instagram though. “Kepenek Record Room” finds it
Hi Clive, I changed to SSD after my original HDD started to make a noise on start up. I copied the music from my back up to the SSD and didn’t encounter any problems with the sound quality.
As I purchased the Core when it was released the editing wasn’t that good and after copying my music to the new SSD drive I decided that I had dozens of albums I hadn’t played for years and never likely to plus the genre and metadata setting were not that accurate. I decided to delete my music library and re rip and edit as required this is so easy on the Core as the editing has been improved beyond all recognition since it’s launch it also much easier when you use a IMac with the M1 chip that allows the Naim app to function.
I find that the SSD sound quality is superb and my search function is much easier as I have added some custom named genre’s in my set up the SSD is a no brainer.

From Full Naim Active System
To Full PMC Active System

I would think that sounds phenomenal.
Could you comment on the sound of the PMC amps please , as ive thought about using the Power 2400 with my MB2se , but they seem to be a rare beast with no reviews.
Hi Folkman,
From the change from Naim to PMC, I can say that is a big jump. Yes, Naim active DBL is a very good system. But this huge PMC make sound even bigger soundstage, cleaner, more detail and better resolution. I can crank up louder. Before PMC, I’ve added Wilson benesch Torus infrasonic and elac super tweeter to my active DBL to get more extension on the low and high frequency. But still has its limitation on the DBL. To use a Naim 500 series or Statement to DBL is no brainer upgrade. So, I decided to changed to an active speaker. Although control 1200 is consider a class D amp with linear power supply, but it really got the strength to drive the speakers very very well. I’m a happy PMC owner.
Too bad you’re so far away; I would have enjoyed sharing a few drams with you here in NY.
Anyway, I have a few comments/suggestions for you based upon the expressions you’ve listed:
- Your experiences can be broken down into two distinct categories, blended and single malts. The Dewars, Chivas, Johnnie, Monkey Shoulder are the blended whiskies (meaning they are created by “blending” together whiskies from many different distilleries. Single malts use whiskies only from their own distillery. In other words, single malts create their whiskies, from start to finish, while blends do not actually make whisky, they mix already produced whiskies from various distilleries.
There are some excellent blends out there, though generally, scotch aficionados (snobs like me) prefer single malts since they tend to have a bit higher ABV and reflect the characteristics of the particular distillery. - You mentioned that your faves were the two 14’s. I also think they are good, but if you can step up to the 15’s from Glenlivet and especially Glenfiddich you may find that there is a big jump in appreciation. Personally, I prefer the 15 versions to their respective 18’s. Of course, once you get into the 21 - 25+ ages you move to a whole new plain.
- But the bottom line is, all of this is subjective. There are no right or wrong answers as to which whisky is better (or best). As one’s palate becomes more discerning the potential to appreciate the subtle differences in the older expressions leads to greater enjoyment.
Slainte!!
Mitch
Nice diffusor!
Thanks for posting. What were the active DBLs like when they were flat back to the wall?
I’m very curious to ask, but I thought Naim speakers required some solid wall re-enforcement to work properly. Those DBLs are well off and into the room
Holidays came early and new boxes arrives. I’m loving my NAP300! Just makes the whole system have that “Naim” foot tapping sound. Added a full fat fraim for the NAC282 too.
I can’t wait for my 2year to go to bed, so I can drinking wine and listen to music
Beautiful pics and from discussions with my dealer, pretty much what I am aiming for, long term as my end game system - a long way to go for me, but I have plans, as do we all, I’m sure!! Looks amazing.
Nice. I’m starting to think about the NAP300 DR as well…
the artwork is very interesting …
The 300DR works brilliantly for me too. Of course, one day you could add to the Fraim to make room for a PS for the NDX2…
I’m not sure if I can hear sarcasm there or not . Anyway, the surreal stuff if by Joe Webb, the photo by Rankin.
No it was different , so I asked
I try to be very respectful on this forum . Some of the listening rooms are as interesting as the systems, my favourite came from someone called Linton , which was as interesting listening room as it was with his system
Here’s a handful of my system, this year I’ve added a HiCap DR to the Nait XS2.
I had debated a flat cap as some.on here fell it’s better suited to the XS, but my thinking was if I eventually move to a Supernait, and potentially a nice CD5X or XS the HiCap could be repurposed…
