Of course you’d say but you are right it needs some contrast. Maybe deep purple.
You’re always so negative for a young bloke
Well least I didn’t say it needs a streamer and gave you a like.
Ha ha
Yep that’s him he’s a bit party animal.
Love the ash with black!
So do jh
I’ve had the black and cherry in past systems but my wonderful dealer swapped them
all over for the ash
It’s the one for me and just lightens it all up
I was seriously considering the Special 40’s … and I thought they sounded pretty good in a short audition. I was surprised…in the video…of the quality of parts in the crossover…which I was dissapointed to see. Having said all that…my experience is to use the ears to judge…and as I said before I thought they sounded good.
One have to consider that he makes a living out of trashing other speaker designs selling his upgrades by looking at a graph complaining how it looks like. My own experience is my ears are more happy with speakers designed to sound great in a room rather than in front of a measurement system in a lab with the target plotting a perfectly straight line.
Part of me agrees with you…however, it is a shame that an expensive speaker…uses critical crossover components that are pretty poor. I have experience myself of building crossovers and quality does matter… I remember re laying out and hard wiring a Wharfedale 708 crossover… then an expensive speaker… wow what a difference … manufacturers can do naughty things… In my view the Linn Kan Mk1 as an example…that crossover is not good…but this is only my humble opinion…I am sure there are plenty who will dissagree…
Wow, “The Madhouse On Castle Street”, I watched it with my parents in 63 who were totally shocked and outraged by MrD, I was attracted to him initially because he was very different and nobody else appeared to like him! What a lovely souvenir you have there, no chance of that being Autopenned!
Very interesting. Im not specialist and I sometimes wonder about the pictures in the web about the inside of some spaekers and crossovers, that often look a little bit improvised to me. Would you say that these are good solutions compared with the price?
- Dynaudio Special 40 (3’400 Euro)
- Dynaudio Contur 60 (11’00 Euro)
- Marten Oscar Duo (7’000 Euro)
Any chance you can take the speaker mods topic (interesting as it is) to another thread and just keep this for System Pics
Sorry about thead creep…good point
I will create a crossover thread…for people to discuss this…area generally
Had a bit of a tidy up in readiness for the somewhat delayed new Record Racks (not due now till the end of the month).
Speakers now have Gaias fitted and standing on nice Black Scottish Granite pads.
All sounding truly sublime…
And a fine rug.
Turkish and reversible.
The other side is darker, more Navy.
Very nice…
Thanks for sharing this wider shot.
Now I get your other comments about the room, (walls, construction, surfaces), etc
Nice space
