I will send new system pics in soon. Two sheets of glass and cups and balls coming in for two Fraimlite shelves.
I have had some network problems with System. By taking the NAS off the Cisco switch and direct to router it all works perfectly now.
I think Naim streamers are very sensitive things whether Gen 1 or Gen 2. I may ditch the Cisco altogether and run the rest of my stuff on Wifi if problems persist. Strange as everything was working well for a few weeks. Then suddenly all going t*ts up
Many have software updates on their routers (and other things) set to “automatic” and it’s not super rare that new software mess things up. I also believe Naim are sensitive related to network. I had a Networks acoustics ENO filter for trial but had to send it back. My NDS had no idea what to do with it so it just said “NO WAY”. After discussing this with the manufacturer it seemed like NDS indeed is bit picky on what feeds it. Maybe that’s also why it is so responsive in delivering more quality when you get things right there.
System looking really good, can I ask were there any other speakers in the running or was it a case of once you heard the Prozac’s you realised that was the sound signature you were after.
Everything Naim network seems to be tricky! It needs to be very clean. I am no IT specialist but have had a lot of problems with the streamers. Everything worked great for a few weeks. Then bang. All going terrible. Now by taking NAS off Cisco it all works great.
Have to keep changing and f**king about with this gear.
Anyway, sounding awesome now. Loving it! I would say my system sounds better for having the 3 tier Fraim and having it away from the speakers. The speakers moved apart and well out of the room makes a big difference too.
Thanks Nigel. It’s a lovely spot with a courtyard of barns to the front and views across farmland to the rear. A nice place to be. The bobbins are actually spinning chairs, albeit that they don’t get much use. (They are totally impractical!) They look sculptural though and sit well with some of the other sculptures in the garden.
It’s not just the speakers I am enjoying. I have done over £15k of upgrades. It’s 4 Powerlines, the 52, servicing of 3 boxes, New 3rd Fraim stack and ND5X2 used as transport into NDS. And of course the cabling that goes with it.
The upgrades on the streaming front have made a big difference to usability.
Speakers biggest and massive upgrade. The rest has made things more usable and having a better preamp has made quite a difference.
The 52 is quite an upgrade on 82. I am loving my system. Very different to yours which is very uniform in appearance.
Mine is mixture of different era boxes over three stacks. Lots of cabling!
I love the differences in our systems. All looking wonderful!
Whats the favourite thing about your system Steve?
It’s a great system you have there and it’s looking awesome !
To answer your question, I could quote all of the audio cliches I guess. Micro dynamics, detail, scale, timbre, PRAT , the fact that I can follow all of the strands etc.
To be honest, what I really love is the way all of those things come together to create that illusion that the musicians are in the room with you. Every little detail is there, all of the imperfections in the performance and the clues which makes it feel “real”. I might play the same song or track several times and still notice something new. I can listen for hours but I don’t get the chance to do so all that often. It’s my most effective way of relaxing for sure!
I’ll stop waffling now.
