Well spotted. By the time I was finished, I was just glad everything was connected correctly. I shall attend to it shortly
That brings back fond memories of my first Naka deck. Happy memories.
Nice Andy Partridge poster.
Signed, by the man himself. If I was ever to get a tattoo, this would be the image. Vinyl junkie.
Amazing what you can get out of an old cassette player and an old cassette! Been putting it through its paces tonight. My favourite so far has been the Indestructible Beat of Soweto
Wow - really in love with your SBL…! What color is ist. This is my favorite - is it walnut?
Thanks, it’s dark oak veneer (1991)
The mid-drivers, tweeters, and x-overs replaced with new in 2010.
Yeah - thanks. Will take them!
That will be $50,000 then please
Hi Debs,
What is happening under the SBLs?
M
It’s a concrete floor, and the patchy looking carpet is where the footprint of an earlier fireplace once stood. When i can afford it the carpet will get replaced with an engineered wood flooring.
Then you’ll be needing some Naim Chips or some more exotic floor protectors.
Plenty of us will doubtless chip in with suggestions then (Gaias?) at that point…
There is not that much of a drop in sound quality. I just came to the conclusion that the power supplies were an expensive upgrade for the extra performance they gave. YMMV.
Hi Hollow. Pease see above.
Good to know. With all these upgrades, it’s point of diminishing returns.
Whoops
As your publicist may I suggest you revise this to:
In order to get the best from the SBLs I had the floor taken up and laid a new 6’ foundation topped by dense concrete made using ash from Vesuvius. Experimentation showed that having underlay was deletorius to the imaging and dynamics and so this was removed.
While we should not post links, I’d encourage anyone under 50 who is baffled or needs a giggle to ask the internet about Peter Belt.
Fully agree
