It’s surprising how many people are affected by cancer, it’s obviously that our smarter world is actually contributing to us becoming more vulnerable. Plastic in the waterways plastic in the food we eat not to mention all the additives and chemicals they use has to be a factor.
But of course it maybe that we now have to ability to detect things that we might’ve been able to not that many years ago.
Either way it’s tragic hopefully they continue to discover new cures.
Also to anyone else here who’s gone through the experience or witnessed family and friends my heart goes out in sympathy and support.
I agree Pete, it is scary how many people are affected nowadays. I have lost multiple friends and family this way. Wishing you all the best, amazing what they can do nowadays so hopefully that 5 years becomes even more as further advances are made
There’s a fund raising TV programme in the U.K. called Celebrity Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) Bake Off in which ‘celebrities’ are given baking challenges, which are judged by Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. At the commercial breaks there is an announcement which states that one in two of us will get cancer at some point in our lives.
I’m fairly sure you’re right that the world we have created is contributing to that statistic. Personally I just hope for the best, accepting that I can’t do much about it. I wish you all the best, Pete, and look forward to reading your posts when you’re recovering post-treatment.
