Things I’ve done in the last 24 hours

Yes, I use facial recognition for the password app.

Regarding my two banking apps, use of facial recognition is encouraged/recommended by both banks. I assume they must be happy with the security aspects, [CYNICAL]and at the very least, they couldn’t use the “well, if only you’d followed our advice……” excuse.[/CYNICAL]

You’d have to wonder if the thieves might have been watching to see a passcode used as that could potentially circumvent biometrics.

You’d think the digger company would know the location of utilities/services, so if it isn’t an error by the operator it would be interesting to know if maps/records were incorrect and does that shift or reduce liability?

Yes, if maps are not correct then there is some liability there.

This is the latest from the Gas Company.

Dear gas customer, we’ve made good progress on site today and our engineers have now removed 100,000 litres of water. We’ve brought in teams from across the region to respond to this incident so we can restore supplies quickly wherever possible.
Around 250 homes remain without gas. The large amount of water, which has also made its way into appliances in some properties, means it will take a while longer to turn everyone’s gas back on. We’re drafting in specialist contractors to assist with this particular issue.

There are still plenty of people working hard.

Saw some big Suction Excavating trucks today.

Looks like they’re getting ready for some heavy work from tomorrow.

I do wish they’d stop the old “we’re working really hard” thing.

As always, cut the crap, and get the job finished!

Just back from 3 nights in Amsterdam. Lovely city. Relatives working out there reckon residents pay 37% tax ‘but everything works’. Certainly seemed to. Great roads. Free ferries etc. impressed.

Coincidentally we were talking about Amsterdam over dinner. In the context of Van Gogh. Sue (+ daughter 2) went there a few years ago and did a couple of the museums, and loved it.

We did the Van Gogh, well worth a visit.

If you tap on the blanked out password it becomes visible, my point was that if someone can access your phone either via facial or password they also have access to your passwords app, to me that’s dumb and could have easily been protected by a second layer

Yeah, I see what you mean. That’s stupid! Happy that the passwords could be managed “incognito” across websites, but to then display the password in plain text in the app is concerning.
Going to have to look into this a bit deeper.

It’s been like this for some time now, before IOS 18 the password menu choice in settings allowed you to see passwords in clear by tapping on them.

Two factor authentication is the best solution these days. What it does is to protect against web based password hackers who can’t access your authentication device.

A few weeks ago we had cctv fitted. Ollie our alarm/cctv guy said if you ever need to download anything for the Police, just call, chances are it will never be needed……i will take you through it anyway when i service the alarm.
Well a terrible Saturday night when a 14 year old kid was killed in a hit and run not far from us. Three youngsters in the car were arrested, we saw the mum of the driver pull up at the police road block and hand her son over……good on her.
Well just been on live chat to find the traffic officer who sent me a link to upload. Video shows cars at usual speed, then one much, much faster…….off camera you can hear the impact, brakes……just awful. A few seconds either way and the kid would have been alright🙏

The UK online booking for autumn Covid booster vaccinations opened today. So I have booked for my wife and I to have the jab early in October at a local pharmacy, that we like to support.

Played some tunes on a free to use jukebox whilst the boss was looking at soft furnishings, lamp shades and a stool for her dressing table.
Good selection of 7” singles to choose from though whilst I did ask the jukebox wasn’t for sale.

Awful , for all concerned .

Pulled /tweaked a hamstring , painful shin (nearly fell twice ) most likely my Maltese trip on Thursday will not happen this year, the idea of airports and falls frighten me

These things happen and compared to the account Gazza has just given , pretty trivial

Latest update is 230 homes are still without gas and over 130,000 litres of water has removed from the gas mains.

Some of the residents were found to have water not only in their gas meters, but also in their boilers and cookers.

There’s a big claim a comin’. ! :anguished:
