Tidal not behaving……

Now 30 minutes with Roon and no problems.
All problems occur with legacy streamers!?
It’s time to spend a new firmware making the streamer more stable. And the app problem is solved easily with the possibility to use Roon (as the newer products are Roon-ready).
They shoot the bull with supporting even their very first products - mine has 8 years and seems to be out of support since February 2019 when the last firmware update arrived.

Ok who broke Tidal!lol Mine is doing the same, takes ages to find the next track, when it does it stutters at the start. Not had any issues with my NDS in ages.

Thinking about it, is it time to think about a reliable source? Naim dont make cd players anymore so what options are there? Even the new streamers will fall over one day, unless Naim have their own streaming service

Thats what i think has happened, just goes to show streaming is not guarenteed

I ripped all my CDs and have them on a solid state drive plugged into my NDX2. About as reliable a (digital) source as you can get I think.

I do have some stuff on a nas drive that i have purchased, works really well and does sound better than streaming. streaming is ultra convenient though

I’ve got exactly the same with my little old ND5XS. Won’t stream correctly on Spotify either after working fine. Having to make do with my Cambridge Audio CXN which is fine so it’s not my network or router

Just to add my two penn’orth, same issue of a short pause after the first second, then playback. Access times are also longer, and play/pause less responsive. Some tracks gap throughout, others only at the start, and a few, not at all.
This applies to my Uniti 2 and Qb, but not to my Nova, which seems to operate just fine.
All are up to date on firmware, all has been rebooted (repeatedly), as has the router.
Very annoying. Hopefully some wisdom will emanate from Salisbury soon.

Same on my ND5 XS. Drops out, takes ages to connect and App freezes.

I’ve noticed that it’s okay if I select music on the Tidal App and then send over to the Qb on Airplay.

My ND5 XS is currently playing fine, except for a couple of stutters that I’ve noticed. That said, the gap between one track and the next, even on the same album, is now longer by a handful of seconds. I also get the ‘connecting’ message on the display quite frequently now. This behaviour started 3 days ago.

And now - even with the albums on my hdd. Stuttering I never had before. Starting an album begins with 3 seconds playing, then next track ….
Pausing and starting the second time brings the tracks on the right way.
Next album - same thing. Once again - never had this before.
But it‘s not the Naim app - it‘s Roon I‘m playing (with sonicorbiter upnpbridge). ???

Sbo…. Exactly the same thing is happening to me and I have done the same as you to rectify, but no improvement

Thats Naim streaming pretty much done for legacy products its looking like, wonder how long the current stuff will last.

yea it is!lol i have an over £50,000 hifi thats bricked

Might be worth some comment from Naim after the weekend. Just sayin’…

Its always been on high, i dont pay for hifi because naim doesnt support it.

What do you mean by

I only have a HiFi subscription so that’s not a fix for me.

yea i know, what im saying is mine currently doesnt work…so bricked. theres of course an issue with Tidal here and their roll out of high res

its already set to high, are you saying i need factory reset the streamer so that a new high setting gets applied?

I don’t see any option to change from HiFi to High in the Naim app anywhere. Can you be more specific please?

P.S. I can play FLAC at 44.1kHz. I just get longer pauses between tracks and the occasional stutter.
