Unhappy with the new NAIM update

Yes, Qobuz Connect is already out with the release 9.0.0

I am happy when we get a Running and sounding FW in autumn.
That’s my final date …
And waiting is not so bad - with every day with NDS it gets less likely that I will re-adept to nd555 again. Only if it is a mega-winner FW. Naim can do this - yes they can!

@Richard.Dane can you bring your secateurs in from the garden?

I’ve pruned back the most recent posts here. Please would members show each other due respect. If you aren’t sure what I mean by that then the FAQ here might be of assistance. Thanks.

Also please consider my approach. If I feel that someone is being deliberately provocative then I just mute them via the ignore facility. Why bother engaging them at all?

Thanks a lot.
Made me listening to DM songs of faith and devotion again. Big DM fan here.
Now „a broken frame“ - I think it’s my favorite :star_struck: no - there are others

Don’t mention Ultravox.

I still shudder at how this travesty happened. How did it not reach No 1.

Great album and probably their best tour D. Seen them live multiple times in Manchester, Leeds and Tampa. The 6 DMBX box sets contain a lot of hidden treasure. Enjoy mate and don’t let the hassle on here get you down.:+1:

Thanks very much Rob. It has been dragging on a little and now that I am back in Blighty it would be really nice to have my 555 performing once again.

There are some folk who think it will just take as long as it takes, but not everyone has the luxury of an infinite timeframe. Appreciate your continued and invaluable support.

:blush::grin::smiling_face_with_three_hearts: thanks!
Seen them also live several times - first time dressed in black as all others in 1986

Check them - recommend by @GraemeH
Very nice!

I can only ask but I have the advantage of not been bound by a NDA like the Beta guys. Whatever I’m permitted to say I will :+1:

Yes, looking forward to the improved communication promised by the CEO….

Mike, a couple of minor points here; Cedric Magnaud is not CEO but the Naim site director - i.e responsible for naim operations at the factory. The CEO (Vervent) is Cedrick Boutonet, so perhaps the similar first name has caused a little confusion?

Also, bear in mind my post above. Cedric would like to improve comms but Company Policy remains unchanged on public disclosures while products or software are under development or in beta.

Perhaps you could ask Cedric to clarify the company policy regarding post FW update sound quality.

Is it company policy to…

Tweak the sound signature to ensure equipment sounds as it did when it left the factory.

Or

Tweak the sound signature to ensure equipment sounds better than it did when it left the factory. (In the subjective opinion of a group of Naim employees).

Just saw this in my Qobuz app. Thought I would share. It is a snapshot of Qobuz listing Qobuz Connect compatible brands.

Option 2 is clearly unsustainable. The logical answer is that any change should leave equipment sounding just as good, if not better. In an ideal world, firmware changes should make no difference to sound quality.

But that is subjective.

Naim recently updated some of the hi end equipment and gave it a different sound signature. The people who chose that sound signature obviously thought it was better. The problem is, the same people are selecting the best post FW sound profile.

But. Not everybody thinks the new sound signature is better, they want equipment to sound as it did when they bought it.
