It was murky walking the dog this morning, which always brings to mind old England, the mists rolling at our feet as we walked across the fields.

The mist has lifted and this cheery album matches the mood. I don’t have any recordings of his operas but these overtures are favourites of mine.

Recorded live in the open air at 5am, this is a wonderfully atmospheric album.

I’m seeing Graham Parker in Bury St Edmunds next month so I’ve been listening to this album for the first time for several years.
I’d forgotten how good a song writer he is.
He’s still producing new material but I hope he plays one or two of the old ones as they have aged well.

Paul Motian - The Windmills of Your Mind

Paul Motian (drums), Bill Frisell (guitar), Thomas Morgan (bass) and Petra Haden (voice).

Streaming on NAS… A recent arrival, ripped to NAS and now taking out for a spin. The album was recorded in 2011 to celebrate Paul’s 80th birthday and features a fantastic quartet. The opening couple of tracks are sounding mighty fine and looking forward to the rest of the album.
