Ali Ibrahim Ali Farka Touré was born in Timbuktu Region, Mali, on this day in 1934 [d2006]
Yak - Pursuit of Momentary Happiness
A glorious racket from London, and one of my 2019 favourites.
New Jersey, October 16th, 1989
Commercial CD release mixed from the original multi-track tapes…great show!
Drive-By Truckers - The Dirty South
Have you watched the Tower Records documentary? It’s called “All Things Must Pass.”
I spent many hours in the downtown NYC location(s) as a kid…fun times!
I used to work in Tower’s Piccadilly Circus store (1986-89). Best job I’ve ever had.
Disc 2 from this four-CD Elvis set of previously unreleased material. Unreleased Movie Gems contains its fair share of dreck, but there’s no doubting the commitment of The King’s vocal performances. The backing musicianship is outstanding, and the SQ (from RCA Studio B in Nashville) is superb.
Now playing…
Shai Maestro Trio - The Stone Skipper
Shai Maestro (Piano), Jorge Roeder (Bass), Ziv Ravitz (Drums) Gretchen Parlato (Vocals) Neli Andreeva (Vocals) Kalnina Andreeva (Vocals) Theo Bleckmann (Vocals) and Mika Ravitz (Vocals).
Streaming on TIDAL… continuing the exploration of Shai Maestro as well as an interest in Ziv Ravitz after seeing him perform with Avishai Cohen the other evening. The fun continues and sounding mighty fine!
On vinyl…superb SQ
Maz O’Connor - Chosen Daughter
An album that needs you to put back on the speaker grills.
