Their first album, on Blue Thumb UK first press vinyl. Sounding fabulous - awesome performances from the backing band, especially Gaylord Birch on drums and Tom Salisbury on piano.
Doris Duke - I’m A Loser - on CD (orig from c.1969) - a new artiste to me.
What is called deep soul (from southern US) - resonant of Aretha. Very good and thanks to @keanoking who flagged above.
Regarded in parts as one of the finest deep soul albums. Recommended.
Hello @HappyListener. There are a series of 5 albums compiled by the late Dave Godin called Deep soul treasures. They are brilliant.
UK first press vinyl from 31 years ago (can it really be that long?)
I like their “let’s chuck everything in here, even the kitchen sink” approach, even if the lyrics are either ploddingly worthy or just plain cringeworthy.
I quite like the album.
love the album, I have a bad recording off it, if ever a Band needed the Abbey Road treatment this is a case in point
A bit of this
Crowded House - Together Alone
Followed by this
Paul Simon - Rhythm Of The Saints
Both sounding exceptional on original vinyl
UK vinyl from the 1980s. It’s a pretty decent album – not just “Play That Funky Music” and some filler:
The whole band at their very best Daltrey’s vocals are immense on this record.
