On the 48th release anniversary of this fab album…
Happy Birthday Carlos Santana!
born in Autlán, Jalisco, Mexico on 20th July 1947
74 years old Today!
Not easy to say as I have no direct comparison. The only other Rico album I have is Man From Wareika which does seem “brighter”.
My first reaction was that the bass was indistinct, so based on experience with Back To Black reissues I put it through my Audiodesk cleaner. It feels as if the bass is now lighter, but the notes more distinct.
There again my system might be regarded as polite, my hearing starts to disappear above 6k…
I did ask my brother in law for help, he is a Ska DJ when occasion allows. He no longer has any Rico on vinyl
Absolute classic!
Junun - Shye Ben Tzur, Jonny Greenwood & The Rajasthan Express
Thom does doomerwave, Jonny does Qawwali.
Maybe,partially, explains why Radiohead are
so brilliant.
My older brother’s favourite record when we were growing up in the 70s.
His house in the Lake District was flooded a few years ago and all his vinyl was ruined.
This LP was the very first he re-bought when things were back up and running.
Tangerine Dream - The Virgin Years, 1974-1978
Playing disc one from this set, Phaedra and Rubycon.
Steve Hillage - Rainbow Dome Musick
Maybe intended for Linn systems?
Real Estate - The Main Thing

Indie Rock. The band always has a good summer vibe to me.
Santana Moonflower / 2003 Columbia / US CD / C2K63594
Happy Birthday to Carlos! Huge fan of his distinctive guitar sound and playing.
When my children were young they were very good and rarely noisy, but I recall one warm summers day a neighbour slammed her windows shut because they were in the garden having fun! So I opened all our our windows and blasted out ‘Let The Children Play’, and thereafter tolerance was restored.
