A slightly cooler north Yorkshire evening so time to take the Mule for a gallop.

This recording of a New Year’s gig is well worth a listen.

New Bernie Marsden album released today. Kings. 10 recordings of songs made famous by Freddie, Albert and BB King.

Stunning

Musically excellent. Well observed and important lyrically. A tad depressing though?

Richard Hawley - Truelove’s Gutter. Contains possibly my favourite Hawley track, Remorse Code.

Jeff Tweedy and Jim O’Rourke

Something here for everyone - classic songs as you’d expect from the calibre of Jeff & Jim.

Speakers Corner vinyl. IIRC, this was one of the very first records SC ever issued, back in the early or mid 1990s. I bought my copy in 1997. As for the music… well this is one of the greatest albums of the 1970s, a landmark in black music and perhaps Stevie’s crowning achievement.

I mean, this album contains “Contusion”, “Black Man”, “I Wish”, “Sir Duke”, “As”, “Pastime Paradise” “Another Star”, “I Am Singing”… and so it goes on
