It’s the one thing I miss about Vinyl the artwork and the space it allowed designers to do their thing.
It might be just me but album covers seem to have changed to a generic photo of the artist sitting or standing somewhere. I guess the space allowed by CD’s and now Streaming means they don’t have a lot of space to play with.
Small Faces - Ogdens Nut Gone Flake (Tidal Master)
(can anyone recommend a decent vinyl mastering)
Following The Village Green I just had to reach for the Ogdens, another brilliant whimsically british record
Stanley Unwin, Happiness Stan and Lazy Sunday Afternoon which I used to mischeviously taunt some particularly nasty and intolerant neighbours with on Sunday mornings back in the day, its lyrics being acerbically fitting and hilarious.
That’s good, I’ve eyed the Mike Westbrook too. Just wondered about the pressings, as you’ll know records can sometimes have great mastering pedigree to only end up being messed up at the final mile by poor pressing.
Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… released today and taking out for a spin and the opening track is sounding sublime! Looking forward to the rest of the album.
