What are you listening to in 2021 and why might anyone be interested

Miles Davis - The Birth Of The Cool (EMI/Capitol Mono LP)

A repeat play from last night, I started to listen to it but I succumbed to the effect of a few light ales and fell a kip!

Sounding “cool” these “landmark” 49/50 sessions with Gerry Mulligan & Lee Konitz

I don’t know why, but I was walking across the field putting one of the horses out to graze, when I suddenly remembered this album.

I remember there was a bit of a commotion over it back in 1985 when it was released, hmm, might have had something to do with the opening track being released as single and getting to No 8 in the UK charts.

The brainchild of Frank Farian, he of Boney M and later Milli Vanilli production fame, he put together an assembly (some may call it a supergroup) of German session musicians together with some better known rockers…
Steve Luckather (guitars) - Toto
David Paich (keyboards) - Toto
Bobby Kimball (vocals) - Toto
Simon Phillips (drums) - Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend)
Robin McAuley (Grand Prix, McAuley Schenker Group)

Some really nice tunes on here in the style of Toto unsurprisingly and shades of Foreigner.

Oh, and that single, to me, a pretty good cover of some 1970 bands song “Stairway To Heaven”.
Vastly better than that abysmal Scissor Sisters ‘Comfortably Numb’

Far Corporation - Division One

Wonderful.
Bracingly dynamic yet meditative. Excellent SQ too.
