Totally agree, great SQ brings you closer but for me it’s always about the music first. A lot of great music is made under very difficult circumstances, (especially a lot of music that really moves me), poverty, struggle, lack of resource, commercial interest etc and just isn’t possible to be produced to “audiophile” standards.

BBC 4 - it’s called Scream for me Sarajevo. I first heard the story on World Service then this appeared - I wouldn’t watch it for the music although what there is is dramatic, but it’s a fantastic story.

NAIM - The Sampler 2.

I’ve had three of these samplers since the mid 90’s, and they get dragged out for a quick listen every now and then. Some interesting stuff on them, and for the most part, nicely recorded.
