Saturday early evening, spin the wheel and choose an album by its cover…chosen by my 8 year old son…(my subtle approach to get him hear all different types of music…his fave this past 6 months is Wilma Archer😁)

Palle Mikkelborg and chums - Pieces. (Mostly) chilled Scandi chamber jazz with ambient effects. Beautiful empathetic group playing recorded live. Probably best just before bed - which is when I have streamed it over the last few months. On Storyville vinyl.

The Hoax | Humdinger | 1998
Great British Blues rock (heavy on the rock) from a band that really should have made a big breakthrough. Thanks @ewemon for the heads up a few years ago.

He does, but what a great album. So many great tracks all could have been singles. One of my favourites of all time. Can go back to it time and time again and it never gets old.

So on to another of his albums, I do love Sean’s baritone voice and music…

Joe Bonamassa night tonight, Royal Tea bought for me for a recent birthday. A nice clean recording. I enjoyed it so much, I purchased The Ballard of John Henry. Other recommendations gratefully received?

With the help of this forum I have been exploring. / expanding my knowledge of Jazz in its various forms.
Historically Jazz was not my thing, but, I decided to give it a go.
There have been many instances that the output of the artists at ECM have been listened to and I have enjoyed most of the ones I have listened to.

So a little project I have set myself to listen to ECM from the start… those I like will go in a playlist for future listening unfortunately those that I don’t won’t - but that may change as time goes on

Sysrted the playlist with this

Ok, not my normal stuff but it reminds me of the Juke Box in my Student Union about 41 years ago. Some good songs. 2x CD.

Rush - A Farewell To Kings.

Prog rock at its best for me. A solid album from start to finish.

Lighthearted and amusing, gets your foot tapping from the off…

…far from my usual listening habits.

This isn’t remotely something I’d listen to normally, saw it on Qobuz ‘splash screen’ weeks ago, just started playing on Roon but a few tracks in it has really infectious sounds. Perhaps formulaic I don’t know. Potentially controversial tracks I think too.

ZZ Top meets reggae in places if that helps.
