Reissue pressed at Third Man, Detroit, cut by Miles at Abbey Road, London.
Pharoah has a wonderful band on this 1971 recording:
I saw them at the Rainbow in (possibly) 1971. A fabulous night, where my girlfriend Penny and I were the youngest people in the audience by about a decade. Penny loved it too, but still dumped me a few months later. I’ve never forgiven Steve Miller, although it’s possible he had nothing to do with her decision.
Joni Mitchell, blue. Not enough of Joni Mitchell, quite nice listening to the good old originals after listening to the Joni Mitchell at the Newport Folks Festival album.
Amos Lee Mountains of Sorrow Rivers of Song.
Sade Stronger Than Pride / 2000 Epic / EU CD / 5005972
Prompted by @davidng to play this excellent CD for my Saturday starter - often used as a bench mark for a system check.
Agreed, lovely album, apart from the irritating noises in the background. Hisses, scraping and knocking.
Stopped me buying the album in physical format.
Santana Moonflower / 2003 Columbia / Austria CD x 2 / 5111312
Moving on to something a little heavier to test the abilities of the new NAC 332.
Saw them on that tour, many rotations around the Sun since then.
‘Signing Off’ - UB40
Superb debut album from 1980. The sound of the bass on this album is one of the best in my vinyl collection.
Sixties sunshine pop remixed by the likes of Madlib, Stereolab, Supper Furry Animals, Caribou etc. Love this. On CD:
