Great post rock album from this talented Polish outfit

Steven Wilson - The Harmony Codex

Playing this a second time. It is better than some of its predecessors, but not quite up there with H.C.E. or the Raven. Maybe that’s because Guthrie isn’t playing here.

Before heading out to the footy, time to give the Nak its weekly runout. A cassette randomly selected from the “Floyd bootlegs” box:

Your post has just prompted me to dig this out. We’ve been through a few LP12 tweaks and amplification upgrades since it was last played and indeed it does sound excellent. I had completely forgotten there’s a 45rpm disc in there as well. I’m not sure we’ve ever played it despite it being in the collection since it came out .

Kraftwerk Tour De France / 2003 EMI / EU CD / 5917082

Thought I would try this synth heavy recording to see how it sounded this morning. Interestingly, apart from the added dynamics, space and details the opening tracks appear to have increased ‘pacing’ though the race speed is still the same of course!

Moving on to Vitamin the sound shapes of the synthesisers are just right, with great bounce and the correct amount of a robotic / metallic feel without sounding edgy at all. Wow, this really is the best I have heard it here.

His China concerts double LP remains one of my favourite albums. I’ve had it since it came out so it’s been through a few decks and styli(?) in that time but it was well recorded and well pressed to begin with and still sounds wonderful.

Not sure I’ve ever seen that in the racks. I’ll keep my eyes open.

I have only got a few Floyd albums and this one is the best. I haven’t played it for a while and I really should play it more.

The Best Of The Wailers (Trojan/Beverleys 2005 CD)

An often overlooked and undervalued album in the early Wailers catalogue. Confusingly titled, recorded in 1970 but released while BMW were working with Lee Scratch Perry shortly after.
Produced with Leslie Kong for his Beverley label, includes the hit Soul Shakedown Party but the strongest tracks imo are lovely early Peter Tosh led versions of Stop The Train and Go Tell It On The Mountain.

Underworld A Hundred Days Off / 2002 V2 Records / Japan Promo CD / V2CP140

Continuing with electronic sounds, (this time with less robotic vocals), as a prelude to this afternoons rugby, followed later by a rendezvous with my daughter and son, to celebrate his 33rd birthday.

I haven’t got round to getting the new one yet, so in the meantime my original will do just fine :notes: :musical_note:

Hair, 1979.

I was taken here because @TheKevster played The Free Design earlier today. Many thanks, an old favorite that brings back good memories.
