Porcupine Tree - Closure / Continuation, on vinyl…
Extreme. Pornograffitti. CD, 1990. I don’t really do metal, but I think this is slightly metally. Nuno Bettencourt is clearly a good guitarist.
Bill Evans Everybody Digs / 2007 Riverside / Germany CD / 0888072301825
Bill Evans Piano
Sam Jones Bass
Philly Joe Jones Drums
Ernest Ranglin - Below The Bassline (Island Jamaica Jazz LP)
Ernie’s fine album fusing Jazz with classic tunes from Jamaica’s musical heritage of Ska, Reggae n Dub.
Such a shame greedy b*stards want such ridiculous prices for the original LP as every home should have one.
Now playing…
Ry Cooder - The Prodigal Son
Ry Cooder (Banjo, Bass, Guitar, Keyboards, Mandolin, Vocals), Joachim Cooder (Drums, Percussion), Terry Evans (Vocals), Robert Francis (Bass), Aubrey Haynie (Violin|), Bobby King (Vocals) and Arnold McCuller (Vocals).
Streaming on Qobuz (88.2/24)… kicking off this Thursday morning with Ry on cold and damp morning and Ry with the talented group of musicians working with him are sounding sublime! One very sweet album…
Always love this, such a special album with memories of certain times and sadly departed dear friends…which makes the title particularly poignant
The Beat - Wha’ppen? (Go Feet LP)
Paul Kossoff. Solo album 1973.
If you look closely, he appeared to have a Quad pre/power system at home.
Breezy seaside walk now for some nostalgia. The Airplane/Starship with a who’s who of West Coast musos (Dead, Quicksilver, CSN) in Blows Against The Empire. A loose kinda sci-fi concept album with complex arrangements and instrumentation and trademark lovely soaring Gracie/Kantner/CSN harmonies.
It is indeed a terrific album, but have a look / listen to this “live” version of The Prodigal Son which I stumbled across some years back.
I liked it so much that I copied the audio onto a memory stick so that I could blast it through my hi fi.
Just sensational … … … (IMHO).
Bunny Wailer - Rock n Groove (Solomonic LP)
Bunny’s glorious uplifting celebration of the Dance Hall, backed by the Roots Radics with extended dub mixes.
Thank you Dave!
…just LOVED the video, wonderful.
