First undamaged album playing on my RP3, because all my old stuff is well dodgy. Best I’ve ever heard this album, hearing stuff I’ve missed before. Oh god, this is going to decimate the daughter’s inheritance.

Thats a pity, whats wrong with them?

They are from the days when I hosted a party house. Things were a little lax in the record care department. Some may be salvageable when I get a record cleaner, but most are quite badly damaged. As was I, at the time.

No - it was for real and there is even a recording of the gig to prove it ! He was on a short and very low key Scottish tour (turns out it was 1998). It turned out that these were his last UK gigs.

I saw him about 5 years earlier at Jazz Alley in Seattle. A nice gig, playing in his later style with an electric band.

As I mentioned before an RCM like the Project VCSII Alu is good vfm, there cheap but I wouldnt bother with those Spin Clean and similar gadgets.
Good and effective if the records are just dusty and dirty but cant do anything if there scrstched or been played on Groovegrinders.
But i’m probably teaching you to suck eggs

I often resort to this one when I can’t decide which Dylan album I want to listen to.

By the way he must have been proper pissed off when he wrote Positively 4th Street!

Is it the VCS II alu or the smaller model cant remember the number (edit its VC E2 compact, I wouldnt bother)
There are also older versions of the VCS made from mdf that arent as good.
My recomendation would be to look out for the newer VCS II alu
My next best would be an Okki Nokki, not used one myself but they have a good reputation I believe.

Edit: I see the VCS II alu has now been “upgraded” to VCS -3 don’t know how its better though
