What are you listening to in 2023 and why might anyone be interested?

Essential indeed. I’ve just this pm watched Glen Tilbrook sing and play Tempted and Pulling Mussels with Darryl Hall on YT, from recent times I think. An odd combo in some ways, but it worked.

Also, they were one of the first few bands I went to see live without my older brother as escort. Circa East Side Story LP.

Paul McCartney and Wings - Wild Life

I wonder if Give Ireland Back to the Irish was conveniently forgotten when Sir Paul received his knighthood?

Good to know @Tabbycat. I was in contact with one of the band Jon Amor when looking to complete my collection of all their albums. A really nice guy who sent me at his cost (unasked for by me) the final CD I needed to complete my collection. In passing we chatted around if they would ever get back together again but sadly the answer was no it wasn’t going to happen.

‘New Gold Dream (81, 82, 83, 84)’ - Simple Minds

Lovely sounding album - warm, punchy bass; searing synths and guitars

A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble Exploding in Your Mind: Volume 1

By Amorphous Androgynous

There are a few volumes - they are the essence of popular music - if you were going to a desert island this is all you would need.

A smorgasbord of folk, rock, ambient, pop Krautrock, jazz, exotica and freaked out sounds.

It’s all here.

As well as Monstrous Bubble I’ve got somewhere a pretty good iirc Amorphous Androgyness CD that was a cover disc with Mojo back in the day, will see if I can find it

Nice one, it looks a lovely set. Having streamed some of the tracks it showed what a tight band Lizzy was ( and put to bed those “it’s not really live” myths ), but i tried to weigh up how often I would play it.

Don’t think they ever bettered this (Disraeli Gears would be its equal) either collectively or individually. This is terrific for me. CD rip.

Listening to this…

Driven in part by remembering lying on the living room floor as a teenager with a proper set of ‘cans’ plugged into the Ferguson music centre listening to The Friday Rock Show and the late Tommy Vance (even though it’s Thursday) who used to have ‘Theme One’ as one of the backing tracks.
