Fabulous soundtrack. My original 1968 mono lp. Bought for me the day after my uncle took me to see Bedazzled. I think we were both rather smitten with Raquel Welch.
Giving the new ATC’s a bit of a run out , Wow !
Having listened to 1967 last week, time for Miles in Europe 1969 with the first electric quintet. Just two years but what a difference - plenty of the older quintet pieces reimagined plus early sightings of the Bitches Brew material. CD box set. Stunning - bootleg in name only.
Now playing…
Dhaffer Youssef - Divan of beauty and odd
Dhafer Youssef (Oud, Vocals), Ambrose Akinmusire (Trumpet), Mark Guiliana (Drums), Aaron Parks (Piano), Ben Williams (Double Bass).
Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… kicking off this overcast and cold morning with Dhafer with his talented quintet and they are sounding sublime! …a lovely way to ease into the day.
Basie motherlode - 10CD set of his Roulette studio material.
Just ordered the 2LP from Bandcamp, in the meantime enjoying the 4 “bonus tracks” that come as a download.
The full album is available digitally but more importantly proceeds from the LP are to be reinvested in The Tomorrows Warriors Trust so a great way to support upcoming artists.

AON keeping me sane whilst spending the entire afternoon reviewing documents X)
Art of Noise, In Visible Silence.
Neil Cowley Trio - Spacebound Apes - 2016
Enjoying this modern jazz from the pianist who I remembered in his earlier Fragile State guise.
He also played piano on Adele’s 19, so I hope he was on a percentage
Joe Henderson - Double Rainbow, The Music Of Antonio Carlos Jobim (Qobuz)
Having a rummage and came across my 2LP version of this, gave it a spin and it reminded me why it hasn’t recieved many plays. Something obviously went wrong with this, the pressing is fine but it sounds awful and according to Discogs mastered by Bernie Grundman!
So looked it up on Qobuz and the CD stream sounds nice, lovely album that I can now enjoy without all the horrid distortion.
Double Rainbow: The Music of Antonio Carlos Jobim Review
by Scott Yanow
The third of tenor-saxophonist Joe Henderson’s tribute CDs on Verve was originally supposed to be a collaboration with the great bossa nova composer Antonio Carlos Jobim but Jobim’s unexpected death turned this project into a memorial. Henderson performs a dozen of the composer’s works with one of two separate groups: a Brazilian quartet starring pianist Eliane Elias and a jazz trio with pianist Herbie Hancock, bassist Christian McBride and drummer Jack DeJohnette. In general, Henderson avoids Jobim’s best-known songs in favor of some of his more obscure (but equally rewarding) melodies and in some cases (such as a very straight-ahead “No More Blues”) the treatments are surprising. Highlights of this very accessible yet unpredictable CD include “Felicidade,” “Triste,” “Zingaro” and a duet with guitarist Oscar Castro-Neves on “Once I Loved,” although all of the performances are quite enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Spandau Ballet. Parade. Vinyl 1984.
Quality Pop songs, a fantastically naff inside cover, and to be fair Tony Hadley had a great voice.
Thanks Andy, getting my Joe’s mixed up! Shall correct forthwith
Both deserve a mention here.
Absolutely!
Can’t have too much Joe Harriott in this world !
