Soul Revivers - On The Grove (Acid Jazz 2LP)

Stalwarts of the UK Roots & Dub scene Dave Hill & Nick Manasseh’s Soul Revivers project collaboration with some fine JA artists including
Ernie Ranglin posted earlier and some from contemporary Jazz.
Lovely laid back smokey hazy lazy Jazzy reggae vibes

Anaïs Mitchell - the brightness

Anaïs Mitchell (Guitar, Piano, Vocals), Ben Campbell (Banjo, Vocals) and Michael Chorney (Acoustic Bass, Guitar, Lap Steel Guitar, Hammond Organ, Baritone Saxophone).

Streaming on Qobuz (44.1/16)… continuing on this morning with another album from Anaïs and along with Ben and Michael are sounding sweet!

While this is way better than much of the barrel-scraping dross released under the Baker banner these past few years, I’m not getting hugely excited about this album, which is due out in April. That may be because: a) I’m deaf; b) Those four Riverside albums of the 1950s aside, Baker is massively overrated; or c) It needs a few more listens.

My favourite Eno and Byrne album, I’ve been enjoying and playing this for over forty years, many interesting sounds created here.

I do like Ken Russell’s film interpretation better than the soundtrack album on its own. Tina Turner’s Acid Queen is a highlight

I think this is the first time I am going to disagree with you. The original album is just a magical whole. From the very first strike to the last whisper it has to be one of my top 3 albums of all time.
