And from Ryuichi Sakamoto to David Sylvian with this cracking collection from 2000
Quincy Jones - Talkin’ Verve, includes “Soul Bossa Nova”, which was integral to the soundtrack of the first Austin Powers movie. This is a good example of the sound of this album, Groovy!

Morgan James - Morgan James Live: From Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola
Streaming on Qobuz (44.1/16)… kicking off this Tuesday morning with Morgan James Live after a mention above from @HappyListener had me place in the queue. Now taking out for a spin and Morgan and the band are sounding sublime!
That’s great. I like ‘Second Honeymoon’ too!
Quincy Jones - ‘Body Heat’ (1974). The second track ‘Soul Saga (Song Of The Buffalo Soldier)’ was used as the theme for the ‘Sounds Interesting’ programme on BBC Radio 3. This was Radio 3’s rock and jazz programme in the 1970s introduced by Derek Jewell. Hearing this takes me back to late Sunday evenings, recording music on cassette on my Ferguson music centre. I first heard David Bedford - ‘The Odyssey’ (1976), Pekka - ‘The Mathematician’s Air Display’ (1977) and I think Al DiMeola - `Casino’ (1978) on this show. School tomorrow!
Mozart Requiem - Sir Colin Davis and the LSO - Qobuz 24/96k
Tonight we start practicing this for our May concert.
I’ve loved this work ever since seeing Amadeus. It is quite a quick pace from Colin Davis at times. Karl Bohm takes it quite a bit slower. The Colin Davis recording is excellent.

Primal Scream - Demodelica.
Demos and re-workings of some of the original Screamadelica album tracks.
Again, a must for all fans of The Scream ^^^^^^ … … … an’ ye can nivir huv too much Scream, naw, ye cannae.
Splinters Inclusivity - kinda short-lived early 70s Brit Jazz supergroup. Very free, very live and very there. Remarkable considering it was recorded with 2 mike’s into a domestic tape deck onto C120s. Lovely LP sized 3CD package with integral booklet from those Jazz In Britain chaps.
Thanks to @gthack and @crispyduck for this discovery…
Robert - Orange Is The New Black
Only first listen but this really held my interest, not your usual stereorypical cliched bragadaccio Hip Hop rapping over bangin’ beats. Poetic spoken word over a lovely varied pallete of musical backdrops aided and abetted by various collaborators most of whom mean little to me with the exception of Soweto Kinch, Rag n Bone Man and Sleaford Mods.
What do you ask of your listener’s to do before going into this project?
“I want them to know it’s not a rap record, don’t go into it expecting the maddest bars. Listen to it the same way you’d listen to punk, blues or funk, sit down and listen to it the natural way.” – However you may take that to be…
Yeah, we’ve just been discussing this on the “What was the last Vinyl you bought?” thread. Its rather pricey…

Andrea Motis / WDR Big Band Cologne - Colors & Shadows
Andrea Motis (Trumpet, Vocals), Andy Haderer (Trumpet), Michael Mossman (Trumpet), Rob Bruynen (Trumpet), Ruud Breuls (Trumpet), Karolina Strassmayer (Alto Saxophone), Ludwig Nuss (Trombone), Paul Heller (Flute, Tenor Saxophone), Hans Dekker (Drums), Billy Test (Piano), Paul Shigihara (Guitar), Raphael Klemm (Trombone), Jens Neufang (Bass Clarinet), Johan Hörlén (Alto Saxophone) and John Goldsby (Bass).
Streaming on Qobuz (48/24)… it has been a week since I took Andrea Motis’s ‘Colors & Shadows’ album out for its spin and she and the WDR Big Band are still sounding sublime! A lovely album…
I merely hitched on @crispyduck 's coattails!
Glad you’re enjoying it so far though, dunno why but I do feel nervous if people listen to something on a recommendation! Doubly glad it’s of interest, given the amount of music you’ve put me onto. Ta for the link too.
