Barbara Thompson’s Paraphernalia - Pure Fantasy - CD (1984)
As @Debs has previously posted, it would have been Barbara’s Birthday today, this was one of the first CD’s I ever purchased.
A landmark Disco album.
Foolishly, back in the early 2000’s, I traded my original copy of this with a number of other albums including a bunch of Elvis ones at my local record store for credit on some new albums.
I’ve often considered trying to buy another copy, but do occasionally stream it.
The funny thing i discovered only a couple of years ago is that historians do not consider it as disco.
Anyway i think that it’s a masterpiece in its genre.
I own the 1977 Greek 2 LPs gatefold version which i think is very good pressed.
RSO 2658 123 - Phonogram 2658 123
Butterfly Lovers Concerto & Paganini - Chloe Chua / Singapore Symphony Orchestra
Sort of first listen. With all the excitement of the Olympic Opening Ceremony I didn’t get to finish this new release. It is certainly worth a listen… just gets better and better as it goes on. Future download.
Bruckner Symphony No.7 - Mason Bates: Resurrexit (Live)
First listen of another new release… promising start!
So what do “Historians” consider it is then…?
It had to be a product that could hit anywhere in the world. There’s a Peru version as well.
They did it. Mixed up a lot of genres and made a blend. Someone consider the movie and the soundtrack as one of the best hype clips ever made.
Disco and the first great discos in the world sent records sells in the sky while not knowing they were bound to die in a couple of years.
Rock (or anything you want to call it) had a great impulse as well. Culturally a dispute came up splitting people in factions but that is another story.
So some think is not spontaneus disco.
For more details call my psychiatrist.
