Marvellous😊
Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana
(Berlin RSO/Riccardo Chailly on DECCA)
Pe-release files of Samara’s new one. Even on first listen… WOW!
It’s out 11th October and must be a contender for album of the year – jazz or otherwise!
great singer, band and album. thanks!
Ok it’s not their best but it is the last we saw of the great Lowell George which, for me at least, makes it essential and there are some real beauties on here. It’s more Feat than Time Loves A Hero in some respects, an album I like but critics tended to dismiss. Vinyl.
Paul McCartney - 1982 - Tug of War - Label - Parlophone - OG Vinyl.
This is the third solo studio album from Macca produced by George Martin. It produced three singles Ebony and Ivory, Take It Away & Tug of War.
Not played this album for years it sounds fantastic.
Thanks I have dug my copy out
Absolutely beautiful and atmospheric in places
Rimsky-Korsakov - Scherazade
The question now Ian, is what next…?
Gone for something a little more modern.
John Rutter: Requiem, with the amazing choir of Kings College Cambridge
Playing this for my wife who only knows
O Superman, as prep for the November show in Manchester. It’ll be a brand new programme though, but this should suffice to give her a taste. First reaction: “I guess I’ll have to get used to it”, lol…
Laurie Anderson
United States - Live 5 LP boxset
Warner 1984
Recorded live at Brooklyn Academy of Music NY Feb 7-10 1983.
On my 4th listen. An album full of wonderful, emotional songs. Seen him live a couple of times, small and large venues and he was superb in both. Can see some of these songs going down a storm live.
Moved on to Vivaldi Ian.
Anne Sophie Mutter & Wiener Philharmoniker under HVK doing The Four Seasons
So many versions of this including the wonderful Orpheus Chamber Orchestra with Gil Shaham, but this is still my favourite.
