Donald Byrd - The Cat Walk - 1962
Great reply Stevie it must have been brilliant up in London and experiencing all that reggae and the sea of new bands.Rose tinted glasses I know but it was exciting back then.
The only thing I found just as exciting and fresh was Acid House and the rave scene from 1989 to 1993.
Just done a google image serch and here they are …argh great days…from our younger days …enough said
It was indeed a helluva time, Ian.
I remember when we heard Johnny Rotten had been set upon in the Pegasus (I think?) pub in Green Lanes, about a half-mile from where we lived… we were all set to go down and have a fight! Luckily, cooler heads prevailed. Or we wimped out, can’t remember
A very nice charity shop buy this morning a pound well spent
Jimi Hendrix - Live At The Filmore East
That does sound good.
Qobuz has the The Greatest Love for pre-order but suggests a September release.
Interestingly, searching for House, I never knew this remix album was available - just giving it a spin:
Deadmau5 - W:/2016ALBUM/
Guru’s Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1 - 1993
More Donald Byrd on display, only hip-hop this time. A friend gave me this album around 20 years ago as they found it ‘too weird’.
That’s getting a spin later
Just came in from the garden, relaxing to this and sipping a cool beer. Perfect Saturday afternoon.
Steve…all I say about Jazzamatazz…I 'm Loungin …just a perfect first line.
Its a classic album isnt it…love it and have got volume 2 but 1 is the best
Loungin my self on the sofa …done the food shop and a 10 mile bike ride so no guilt trip.
Enjoy your weekend
Cheers Ian
I’d agree, a great laid-back album and some terrific musicians.
Have a good one!
Cheers Steve
You’re right. September it is. I read an old post. Damn!
