Thanks for the link @adeypoos, a really excellent set. She is playing at “Love Supreme” this year. Really looking forward to seeing her live.

k.d.lang - 1988 - Shadowland - Label - Sire, Warner Bros - OG Vinyl.

k.d’s debut solo album. Which includes her collaboration with Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn & Brenda Lee on “Honky Tonk Angels’ Medley”

This is a fantastic album from a great singer. It is also one of the best sounding albums in my collection.

Produced by Owen Bradley who is credited as a chef architect of the 1950s & 60s Nashville sound in country/ rockabilly music.

Vinyl.

I’m really enjoying how the lilting, geogeous Fool to Cry is immediately followed by the grinding guitars and drums of Crazy Mama

Peter Gabriel - So - CD (1986)

Peter Gabriel scored his second solo UK No.1 album on this day 31/05/86 with ‘So’ featuring the singles ‘Sledgehammer’ and a duet with Kate Bush’Don’t Give Up’. The song was inspired by the Depression-era photographs of Dorothea Lange, showing poverty-stricken Americans in Dust Bowl conditions.

My system has not been in full use for a few days due to having work done on the room windows, so this is a very good excuse to give this a spin.

Talk Talk “The Colour of Spring”
Released February 1986. It is their third studio album.
Unlike their other albums synthesisers are rarely used and the the instruments focus on guitar, piano and organ ( as well as Hollis’ voice) and the album is all the better for it IMHO
