Apologies, but it was very much a beer event

Beerbohm’s, Lichfield. Magpie a decent beer with pleasant bitterness.

Very nice. Surprisingly light and slightly fruity. A change from my usual Guiness.

And to complete the holy Chimay Trinity, here is a white one.

A rather unusual but very suitable beer to accompany great Punjabi food. Brewed in Nairobi, light, fresh with a bit of a citrus aftertaste

First visit to the “Ambassadors Lounge” just off Regent St. definitely going back soon

It’s what my local pub has on draft as their tripel. So unsurprisingly I’m a return customer

In from the icy blast to the warmth of a Chiswick High Road gin palace - Sambrooks Blindside IPA - floral yet bitter.

Dark Island, a warming Scottish ale, is always a favourite but especially welcome on a bitterly cold day and when served by Mhairi!

Cheers,

The Bridge in Lichfield.

Pig on the Wall always reliable, Beowulf perhaps better on a warm evening but still tasty.

St. Peter‘s Winter Ale

One of my favorite winter beers. Very nicely balanced. I’ve paired it with an equally beautifully balanced recording by L’Arpeggiata. I can only recommend both.

M&S’ new Winter Ale made for them by Adnams. 4.2% and absolutely delicious

Adnams Broadside - liquid rich fruitcake - at high tide under a Maybush at the eponymous boozer. Yum

Oh dear me again - a warming smooth malty nightcap of Wadworths Old Timer, a mere 5.7%.

Bridge, Lichfield. I really liked the Salopian.

This sour triple is lip puckering and (almost) too easy to knock back for 9.5%

I cracked this open the other night, to celebrate climbing my 200th Corbett. Perfect, rich, rewarding rehydration after a good day in the mountains! Accompanied by some mature Stilton cheese.

Cheers,

Ian
