Yes, I had an extended home dem of a “pair” and, based on that experience, last week, took delivery of a “single”. Quite sensational.
Enjoy your new 500DR and when the time comes and budget allows, you have an upgrade route…

Thank you very much! I will definitly enjoy my 500. I’m really impressed by its performance
Congrats also to your new item! Good to know there is a path forward if funds allow in the future
I am a bit like you , not ready to change or invest more. My big ps is 12v, so won’t fit with EE.
And without doing the test at home and comparing both, I feel it’s impossible to know which one is the best.
In a review, the Melco S100 was better for the reviewer vs the ER with external expensive clock.
But for some members here the Melco is uninvolving, and DB found the ER alone better vs the S100.
So maybe the EE is the best, maybe not.
I will more wait when a new switch will really outperform all, without costing a car.
I doubt that EE is the best switch but when it comes to value for money it’s quite hard to beat…
Hi all out there.
Just to comment that, as part of my final setting in the main system, I have upgraded all the power cords, from Chord C-Power to:
Tellurium Q Black Power from wall mains outlet to IsoTek Sirius strip.
Tellurium Q Black Power from IsoTek Sirius strip to Musical Fidelity NuVista 600.
Tellurium Q Ultra Blue II from IsoTek Sirius strip to NDX2.
IsoTek EVO3 Elite from IsoTek Sirius strip to Violectric HPA V281.
And the truth is that the upgrade is night and day: much more of everything, bass, mids and treble, but above all an immense soundstage with a holographic depth and amplitude, authentically 3D, a tremendous focus and an overwhelming dynamics. A clear approach to real life sound, more just like the real thing.
In addition, I have got a fantastic price, so main system finished and totally happy; well, almost entirely if it wasn’t for the problems that I’m having with the latest App update and Tidal compatibility.
Newcomer hi…How good is your Isotek Sirius power strip?,I’m planning to buy …right now I’m using Matrix2 much cheaper
I tested an Audioquest NRG-Z3 into my Wireworld Matrix block and it made a big difference in terms of lower noise and detail. I then swapped that out for a Monsoon which came across as more controlled with a better soundstage. This morning I have taken the plunge and ordered the Blizzard which if it outstrips the Monsoon pound for pound, should be fantastic.
Hi, @Meni.
Very satisfied with it: an impressive RFI and EMI noise removal, and an appreciable upgrade from the first moment and that over time was only better.
At the time I was thinking between AQ Niagara 1200 and IsoTek EVO3 Sirius; both brands, along with Shunyata Research, are among the best handling the electric current matter. In the end I opted for IsoTek Sirius basically because of the price difference, since the Niagara 1200, coming from overseas, becomes more priced due to the different distributors and intermediaries’ up mark. I believe both are more or less on par in terms of quality and contribution, although the IsoTek does not have differentiated high current outlets and it delivers the same amount of current, without any kind of restriction, and resistance in all of them. For my system it’s perfect (both would be), because I do not have too much space and the “strip” format is the one that best couples without intrusions.
I don’t know on the WireWorld Matrix 2, but it seems of a very basic level and far below from both the AQ Niagara and the IsoTek Sirius.
Taking care of the entire HIFI rig, from start to finish is essential for SQ; and power cables have a big effect on the quality of what reaches the black boxes.
AV Options Tibia12 with a Furutech F-11M (CU) plug added by me (AVO offers a basic Wattgate on their ‘plus’ builds for a premium charge imo) now powering the DAC V1.
Incredible. Unlike the Shunyata I tried before, it maintains that light and bouncy Naim sound, but with lots of added detail and fully resolved highs without running over everything with extended bass (like the Shunyata). This is from initial plug in; I’m sure it’ll get better over the next couple of days. It’s not fancy (just a thicker Well Shin) and no idea if it’s the extra gauge, the cryo treatment, or the Furutech plug, or combo of all, but it sure makes the basic Tibia sound broken. I was considering alternatives to the V1 but no longer.
I share the same enthusiasm shown here. In my case it’s not solely the power cords that brought a massive transformation to the system but the wall receptacles that have been upgraded to better “audiophile” types. I have never experienced such an impact in my entire life before and am just gobsmacked with the level of differences the changes have brought to the system. It’s like having a completely new system with new amps and speakers.
The photo shows the power cord which I recently acquired. It’s an Acrolink Mexcel 7N-PC9700 connected directly from the wall outlet to the amplifier, a Luxman L-590AXII. The plug at the IEC end of the amp is supported by a Furutech NCF booster (this thing really works!)
Wireworld Elektra 7 on Chord DAC.
Clarity and dynamics are the key improvements. The notes of instruments especially piano all sound very energetic and live. Previously I need to turn the volume up or the notes of instruments will sound dull and lacklustre. With the previous setups, although the clarity is better when played at higher volumes the notes still sound a little dull. Not now with the Acrolink Mexcel plugged directly to the Furutech GTX-D wall outlet. Even at low volumes piano sounds lively and lit. The energy of the notes is amazing as everything sounds live, just like the real thing. You don’t need to turn up the volume to get great sound. Music does not sound dull at low volumes anymore as all the notes have amazing energy radiating out from the speakers.
Thanks very clear to me
Just to report on the Sarum t, after different positions during 10 days.
Today I connected back the Sarum t to the 555 dr, as its initial connecting 2 months ago.
It’s really the best position on my system. Giving the best clarity, dynamics, openness, and in the meantime the most natural sound for my ears.
My system has never sounded so good
The top Chord cables are very good,my ethernet cable is Sarum t
@Richard.Dane. Richard, respecting forum rules that discussion is not permitted with regard to 3rd party Snaics and burndies I.e those wires that are in effect integral to the operating of a Naim component and it’s PSU and therefore represent a modification I wonder if it would be possible for this to be revised. I say this because I genuinely recognise that the Forum is very liberally moderated in that we can freely discuss and even champion other brands including interconnects, cable wires and powerleads, but think that 3rd party Snaics etc could be a genuine upgrade or alternative for some and learning of the experiences of others could be very useful. It would of course be on a trial basis and subject to reversion if it led to problems.
As ever best regards,
Lindsay
Hi Lindsay, the rule is strict, for good reason, as there are all sorts of performance and warranty implications. Regardless of that, if any exception were to be made for any particular company, it would be very hard to draw a line that’s fair, and anyone else offering such 3rd party cables could rightly call foul. So the rule stands, and unless it’s officially sanctioned by Naim then it falls outside of the rules.
Thanks Richard. No problem.
From this thread I noticed that there are few who own expensive power cords such as Chord Sarum T and Music. The Music costs £5,000
Gone are the days when I regard power cords as something unnecessary as I always fail to perceive a noticeable difference with all my existing cords. The difference in sound quality between the cords is usually small to negligible. To be fair those cords are all budget range below £300 and the wall sockets are standard switched versions. After almost 30 years in this hobby I have finally moved forward by replacing the wall receptacles to audiophile types and for the first time splurged on a premium power cord (£2,500). The best move I’ve ever made. For the first time I experienced a major uplift in sound quality. This recent revelation on the importance of power management has sparked further interest on the subject, and further potential upgrades are imminent. Nevertheless, I will need some time to recuperate from the recent costly purchases, especially the Acrolink Mexcel 7N-PC9700 cord.
Exactly my experience. There is a glowing energy with the notes especially evident with piano. The strings of guitars sound much more delicate and refined you can see/hear through it. Parts where the sound gets muddy when things get complicated especially fast attacking drums or bass lines, it’s now crystal clear as the beat of the drums stops and starts where it is, no smearing. I am surely elated with the sound from my system at the moment.
It’s amazing that my Acrolink Mexcel cord now costs higher than some of my integrated amps and speakers which I currently own or have owned.
Yeah, £2,500 aren’t a cupcake, but these Mexcel is in Acrolink statement range, so it should be a fantastic cable, and the upgrade amazing. Power cords really matter, and I myself share your thoughts and impressions on the power cords in the main system costing higher than some of the integrated amps and speakers which I currently own or have owned.
ULTRA-HBL Deep-Cryo 6 Outlet 120VAC Power Strip (not cheap)…does anyone use this powerstrip? if so i would like to get his opinion…thx
