Yep I was on both, Dig! kept timing out but managed to get an LP on the Bowie/Music Glue site…

Just went to place an order and it’s all sold out.

Dire Straits, Communiqué. 45 pm, MOFI. Wonder when it will be again available.

Thanks for the Digi link the other day. I managed to order the CD eventually, again kept timing out but was in my shopping cart and eventually was able to complete the purchase. What a mess!

It’s a terrible way to treat fans, why they have to make these releases limited editions in the first place is beyond me. They create a position whereby the site’s can’t cope with the volume of interest, and it just leads to frustration,I haven’t checked, but I’m willing to bet there’s plenty of copies for sale on a certain site,it’s just not right.

I actually left a message on Bowie’s website telling them that. Also mentioned that I think Bowie wouldn’t be impressed either. I’m on their mailing list and bought tee shirts etc and still can’t buy it.

The whole system isn’t working,I got e-mail alerts about pre-ordering at 8pm last night(UK),4 hours after actual pre-order availability,ridiculous.

Does anyone know what the thinking is behind making these releases limited in number? Is to generate interest? It seems odd when these items could be sold many times over. Most audiophile releases tend to be limited in number as well and many are soon sold out. On the audiophile releases, are they limited because there is a limit imposed by the original record company as part of the licensing deal?

Think it’s to generate interest which is odd as I would have thought there’s always been interest in Bowie’s work. Problem is it’s just pissing people off. I don’t believe Bowie would approve.

To make people to panic and spend money to complete there collection
It’s the fear off not having a complete collection they play on, its all about making money

But they could clearly make more by not limiting the release.
