Just entered into to the future with a Cocktail Audio NC25. I managed to find one second hand with all the accessories for €650. It still has the protective adhesive over the screen.
I buy a lot of music on Bandcamp, and wanted to play my new acquisitions before the CD arrives. I am pretty impressed by the sound quality of the Wav files, and maybe I will just buy downloads in future, breaking a record buying habit of a lifetime.
Finally received my new Aavik U-588 all-in-one. So far loving it. Sounds as good as the three Aavik 280 series pieces I had prior to the U-588. And, in visiting my dealer a new surprise will be forth coming soon. Something I never I thought I’d do…replace by Kudos 606s. Hoping for the best. It will be about 2 weeks for the change, I love the Kudos 606s so a little spooky replacing them.
I understand it can be too much for some but with old eyes it’s great to be able to read across a room. Also it can be dimmed more and even shut off if the user prefers. And it does sound beautiful!
Exactly. It’s an easy job to remove the backplate with the passive crossover and replace it with the active version. It looks easy in the video anyway.
I thought about it but it’s £4000 more expensive and I wouldn’t be making the most of it. It wouldn’t fit neatly on my coffee table, where the Nova is now, and I’ve come to really like the Uniti interface, with the large volume control. By all accounts the gap between the 222 and HE, when linked to active speakers, isn’t that great. The HE is small and cute and just fits so much better with our space. Returning the Nova enables a straight swap for HE and the active boards, without putting any more cash into the system, so all in all it is, for me, overwhelmingly the sensible thing to do. I hope that makes sense.
Similar to when we changed to our current Linn Selekt. The dealer took all our existing system, apart from speakers, as PX. Eventually just did a straight swap, so in the end it cost us nothing.
Like yourself, we like the single box form factor.
Enjoy your new system when you get it and looking forward to the photos.
Just picked up a new CD5si, for a remarkable price. I still enjoy playing and listening to CDs. For some reason I lose track of music I enjoy when I stream, but looking at a drawer or shelf full of CDs I find albums I enjoy listening to.
The si is replacing my original CD5 which still works, and which I have had 20+ years.
