Firstly, just because you plug the speakers into a different power circuit that doesn’t automatically create an earth loop. When you think about it, the speakers could normally easily be far enough away from the source that they could end up plugged into different sockets (possibly even on a different ring circuit) and they will work without issues.
Also, these active speakers won’t be mains fussy in the same way traditional Naim amps are, so it’s likely they won’t benefit from the dedicated supply. However there is a good argument they could (due to the nature of class D amplification) detract from the performance of a device like the Atom, which uses a Linear power supply. Mixing linear and switching power supplies on the same power feed has long been recognised as detrimental to Naim kit.
I know I’d be wanting to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of the source so would definitely want to try both options before making anything permanent. Hope that helps.
The metal back plate that the active electronics is attached to will be connected to the mains safety earth, but shouldn’t also be connected to the input signal earth. If it was then you’d be almost guaranteed a hum loop no matter what way they were plugged into the mains. So no, I don’t think there is an issue with plugging them into a different socket.
It does seem to look good, at least from this angle. But what about changing the speaker positions, or moving the sofa back a bit (should still be fine for movies) and having a chair you can pull into the middle of the room, in front of the “sofa” for listening sessions?
The location is pretty much fixed. It’s the right distance from the screen and the side surrounds and ceiling Atmos speakers are all positioned and immovable. The blueprints for the room depend on the sofa in a specific spot - as is the case with any room with on/in wall speakers.
I’m just gonna live with it. Maybe Mrs. FZ will come home from her business trip and sit on it and think “WTF have I done?”
One last item in 2024. Ansuz D3 Mainz Power Distributor, on the bottom of rack. Replaced A2 Mainz. Really made a big difference. Expanded sound stage, tighter bass and very clean detailed presentation. Worth every penny!
Plan is next year updating just a few cables. Probably replacing the A2 power cable with a C3 or D3 and replacing the X2 speaker cables with C3 cables. I’ve been listening to the C3 speaker cables at my dealers and they sound pretty good. All that being said I think the X2 power and speaker cables are both excellent products and rather a good deal.
I’ve moved from a mix of cable brands to except power cords now having mostly Ansuz cables and it has been a great uplift for my system I will evaluate series above those I have from Ansuz later on to see what happens. Also curious about their new 3-series of cables.
I have followed your analysis of cables and other items with great interest. I’m not surprised you are pleased with the Ansuz products. I love them and think that based on their performance they are very cost effective considering like products from other manufacturers.
Yes that would be logic since the founders of Ansuz worked at Nordost before and they share similar ideas in cable geometry etc. Valhalla 1st and current generation is from my understanding really good products.
