I looked at that before I got the ndac. From what I read it seems like it would have a nice sound.
Hope you don’t mind but… Bought a second hand Linn Majik MK1 int amp and a pair of Linn Index speakers on Linn stands today. ![]()
Have been after a Majik again after purchasing the Modwright and not liking it - Mrs Pete22 said that all the “upgrades/changes” I made after selling my original Majil were never as good as my original setup.
Had a quick listen to the Index’s but have listed them for sale, and also had a quick listen to my system with amp in place - yeah sounds good - will have a longer listen on Tuesday evening when I have more time.
Going to get the amp serviced early in the new year if not sooner due to its age.
I’ve had a couple Majik integrateds back in the 90s. I always liked it. Sadly I don’t think official Linn services are still available but it should be simply needing a recap.
I’d probably hunt out a pair of Tukans if I had one again.
@feeling_zen sounds like there is an exLinn, and others, tech who works from home in a town not far away from me - has a very good reputation so that is all lined up ![]()
Funnily enough, I’m looking at something similar ![]()
I’m looking for a new one-that looks good. Was it made for you, or did you source it online etc
Mark grant cables made it, if you look on his website it says mains blocks are out of stock but that’s just because he makes them to order. So if you call him he will make it the way you want with the length of power cable you need. I needed a 3.5 meter cable for example. He has to order in parts mine took about 3 weeks from when I ordered.
I was sorry to read your post , but I remember that you had a very good Naim system . I found my CD5si wasn’t really the match of my Nait 50 , as much as I liked the simplicity of the system
In the end my CDX2 was bought out of retirement and another Naim black box acts as DAC . How long the CDX2 will last is anybody’s guess .
Thank you, that’s great
Thanks for sharing, it looks like a very well made piece of kit
I am also really pleased you found someone to make one for you. Overall, it feels like a very good outcome.
I just had a look at the website and one of the cables on the home page has an MK 655 ToughPlug, a 13 Amp Busmann fuse and a Martin Kaiser 794 IEC connector. @Skeptikal - do you have shares in this business?!?!?!?

I wish i had. ![]()
It’s great to find after trying to share genuine findings that some get the benefit for free.
It doesn’t have to cost a lot to be right.
It’s like Jackanory sometimes.

He must read the Forum. ![]()
This is a great upgrade. I did exactly the same thing about a year ago and have never looked back.
I have never owned a 555 cd player but the two Naim cd players were a supposed match for the Supernaits. Expensive as this new pairing is E650/DP450 plus the obligatory cabling ( dealers choice just found more scratch with brushes on snare drum) it plays cds (Uchida/Tate at moment) with a clarity that I had not previously encountered.
Not knocking Nait as they do not produce a product to offer a comparison. The basic player is not for me.

Well it will soon be December …
So far we’ve watched Totoro exclusively using the German translation, but I’ll suggest switching to Japanese and subtitles the next time. I have seen Princess Mononoke and some other Ghibli movies at the cinema that way and liked it a lot. Our children should be old enough give it a try, otherwise they’ll surely let me know ![]()
I’ve been to the Ghibli museum in Mitaka near Tokyo. They used to have a realistic Cat Bus shuttle from the train station but I think they stopped that alas. Great animation studio, one of the masters of the art.
There’s Studio Ghibli talk on near Brick Lane on Tuesday: The Art History of Studio Ghibli by Helen McCarthy.
Sadly, I’m working so can’t go.
