What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2025?

Just got these IE 200’s for out and about, sound remarkably good listening on the Mojo2/Poly combo….. really comfortable (for me) too, although replaced the supplied eartips with Sedna Earfit max ASMR’s, so what’s not to like :grinning_face::+1:;

What’s really scary is that, if I hadn’t heard the 900’s first, I could easily have been totally convinced by the 200’s……:scream:.

Me too! Just got mine today and it’s all set up. Still have to get the picture settings right to my taste but overall a fantastic picture. Hope you’re enjoying yours.

The Rel 812 arrived today and is set up and using high level connection from Beresford switch speaker wires from switch to Focal Sopra 2s.

So I can use it with AV amp and then switch to main Naim amps.

Wasn’t sure how it would work. Black wire left unconnected, so not grounded. No hum at all.
It sounds really very very nice!

And it’s a beast. Surprising sound. Wide soundstage, more of a nice roll off on deep base.

Not what I was expecting!

I now know why @JosquinDesPrez wants the 6 pack. I am considering a 2nd already.

I have just bought a SPL Phonitor SE

The cross channel switch is remarkable dealing with sounds that are hard panned to one side. In headphones. It sounds unnatural and irritating because it’s isolated to only one ear. Of course, in speakers there is some leakage to the other ear so it’s much more tolerable.

I have SPL Phonitor E, SPL makes excellent headphone amps!

My Phonitor SE makes my Sennheiser HD800S sound like another headphone compared to my old Lehmann Audio HP amp.

I am pretty amazed at this amplifier, I did not expect it to be so much better than my old one, and Cross Feed is a game changer for old recordings

I use a Hifiman HE1000 Stealth, rather difficult to power, without problem for the SPL…

Bit late to the party with the NN50 but I incorrectly assumed this was a ‘second system amp’ only for near-field listening. Comments on the burgeoning NN50 thread from good folk with far more experience and knowledge than I piqued my curiosity. I am so glad I gave this feisty amp a listen in my own home because it has been a revelation.

For my context the diminutive NN50 is a game changer with my LP12 - it’s not just for jazz and acoustic stuff - it absolutely nails all music genres.

I am one sleep-deprived, but very happy punter.

Cracking photo.
The NN50 capturing the light in a way that highlights that item ( amongst all the other things to see). Nice :+1:

Nice picture. Could you post a picture of the complete cupboard also? The woodwork looks lovely. Maybe in the ‘System Pics’ thread…

Hey @ratrat
Thank you for your kind comments.
I had been planning to go active with my PMCs and swap out my much loved Supernait3 for the NC222. This was initially prompted by your wonderful posts on your ‘going active’ journey.
The NN50 is bringing it and keeps things simple.
How are you finding the changes you made, now that you have had some time to let your new system settle in?

I’ve replaced my 15m run of generic fibre & SFP’s with a Funisar active optical cable. There has been a noticeable increase in clarity, with the finer details further in the background being easier to hear. £71 well spent i feel.

Hey @1GiantLeap

Have to start by saying, love your listening room and your system. It’s also been an inspiration, these past few years.

Listening to music can be about all the audio equipment - and the geeky faffing and fiddling too, which can be fun - but always thought it’s as much about the room as an attractive space too. Listening rooms should be an inviting and relaxing space. Personally, I’d rather share music ( and a glass of wine ) with friends and family.

For some years, our aim was SN3 and PMC Twenty5 23i. However, the PMC active modules appearing caused a sideways movement. To explore active options. At the same time, we were able to swop our SN3 for a NAC282. Our “end game system” turned out to be more accidental than the long planned project we envisaged. So, yes, loving the separate pre-amp and active speakers, it’s a phenomenal sound to enjoy.

Think we maybe have one or two moves left to complete the system. Still looking to add a psu to our nDAC.

Our digital system - and the room it occupies - is still a work in progress. We are diligently working around our new house and finishing things. So, we are mostly using the Olive system in 2025.

It’s been a busy year - with other things - so music has been a minor ( rather than major ) thing in our life…
Busy at work, which is normal, we migrated from a legacy system over to Shopify - for our e-commerce platform - which was a big project. Fortunately, no long distance travelling at work during this year, which has been nice given that we brought a puppy into our lives.

Dora the Fox Red Labrador came into our lives in January. Walking a dog again has been fantastic, maybe 10k a day. She’s nearly 10 months now, going through “adolescence” stage.

Our adult daughter is getting married in 2026. Many many things to sort and get right for this major life event.

We moved into a new house in 2021, so DIY tasks are an ongoing activity. We ( me and my best mate, my wife) are currently re-developing the back garden. Which is a proving to be a lot of work. Today, we were painting fence timbers.

Life goes on. We’ve spent a lot of time outdoors in 2025. Sometimes the passion and hobby - music and HiFi - has to take a back seat for a while.

In the meantime, made a big effort this year to finish the “set up” for our Olive system…
Here is a system pic for you

If we hadn’t already invested in Naim Olive recently - Project Olive, during 2021 - think we would have jumped at the N50, such a fantastic idea from Naim.

FWIW, in our case, box count is not so much an issue. So three olive boxes, plus other shoe boxes, is no problem in our house.

Happy listening with your new addition into the house. NN50 is such a nice shoe box.

Anyway, watch this space, as we move into autumn and return indoors once more, maybe I’ll find time to get system 2 ( digital first) all set up and working and singing for the winter.

Keeping this post on topic - “what was the last bit of gear you bought in…” - we brought heavier ( c/w thick interlining ) curtains home this week and hung them in the “ system 2” room. For dual purpose, both room acoustics as well as interior design.

Image note : New curtains, still a bit creased, give them a few days to hang and relax. :+1:

Best wishes

Thanks @ratrat - really appreciate the response my friend.

Your curtains look great and I am sure they will help with the acoustics too. We clearly share similar tastes and views in a lot of things.

Dora sounds absolutely lovely. When I had a cocker spaniel I loved the early morning walk with him first thing. Life happens doesn’t it? Good luck with wedding plans. Our youngest goes off to uni later this month so that’s both of them having flown the nest. We also moved house/area/jobs/schools in 2021 and are still working our way around every room on the DIY front. Thankfully we don’t have to do any gardening - It’s hard to make the time when you live a few minutes from the beach though!! Good luck with the wedding plans - that’s very exciting!

Glad the active 25.23i’s and the NAC282 are bringing you a lot of enjoyment. I almost did the same thing, even purchasing the active upgrade kit, considered a 282, then a NC222, but settled on the NN50.

Enjoy the rest of the summer while you can!!

I’ll be interested to hear what you think. I’m contemplating trying some on my DBL’s.

Your in for a real treat, once you get 200-300 hours on the Muon Pro, it’ll open right up and smooth out.

One of the best upgrades I’ve done for a long time.

That sound promising .

The SL DIN came 2 days earlier and the impact is immediate. More clarity, transparency and pretty much noticeable to the Hi-Line. It makes my system sound bright but I know it will settle in real soon.

The muno Pro Ethernet Filter is harder to hear the difference. I have yet or struggle to notice betterment/improvement.

I guess it might need that true 200 hours burning in.

I am also thinking if the ND555 is already doing a good job of DAC clocking, galvanic isolation and that LVDS low-noise digital signal routing that such filter impact is very minimum. Not sure :man_shrugging:… still speculation on my part.
