What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2025?

Not sure if you have a Ethernet Switch or not ?

It needs at least what I have (in my profile) that’s what Rob at NA suggested as the bare minimum with the Muon Pro.

I do not have any audiophile switch at the moment. This is my first try at tweaking network. So just a normal TP-Link 10G router.

Rob said a basic D-Link Switch and a good iFi SMPS is an excellent start and not too expensive until funds are free for a much better one.

That’s what I thought about the SmoothLAN Regenerator, how can external re-clocking make a difference when the 333 has its own very good system? It does though, and the improvements are very noticeable, I just don’t understand why!

However I didn’t find the purely passive EE1 filter I had did much at all.

Yeap.. if proven to be okay, will look at their whole range. tempus to origin hehe :squinting_face_with_tongue:

If I not wrong, the EE1 filter is exactly the same function as the muon Ethernet Filter right. So the SmoothLAN itself is somewhat of a re-clocking device?

Filtering and re-clocking.. interesting when it comes to digital domain. Annnnd.. voodooo

I just looked up the Muon and yes it’s passive, as is the EE1, so the same in principle. Doesn’t mean they’ll be the same in practice though!

The Regenerator version of the SmoothLAN has passive filters either side of an active re-clocker. It’s replaced the EE8/EE1 here. My Blu-ray player mysteriously packed up last week so I no longer need the switch.

Makes things very simple, currently BJC cat6 from the router to the SL then the very short (30cm) cable that comes with the SL to the streamer.

Excuse my ignorance HH - what is it ?

It’s an English Electric EE1 plus, made by the Chord Company. Its purpose is to reduce noise. It sits between the switch and my Atom HE. I have its smaller sibling, the EE1, between my router and the switch. The two together work well, giving a more relaxed and natural presentation. They may not work for everyone, but they work for me.

I was originally thinking upgrading my Aria to an Aura on my P10.

However, I was offered the Solstice package which presented a huge jump in performance for a relatively modest increase in cost over the Aura. I was surprised how shrill and harsh the P10/Aria sounded in comparison to either upgrade

I’ve been running it in for around six weeks now, and it sounds sublime.

New (old) rack and some sound dampening curtains as recommended by this very forum.

This time last week I wasn’t even thinking about this.

Then last Thursday, a midnight email arrived from my local dealer with a few special offers.

A phone call was made first thing Friday.

Collected it on Saturday for a long musical weekend here.

Suffice to say that It didn’t go back today.

To be continued…
