These lovely cables just arrived and are now plugged in:

A £300 pair of cables sounding at least as good as the £2.5k Sarum T they are replacing…this is why I have no love for Chord whatsoever…

How to they sound in comparison to Sarum T?

I need to do a proper comparison, but the sound is a lot fuller to my ears. It is probably not a great comparison to make as one pair of cables is unbalanced and the other balanced. However, you would expect the Sarum T to sound better if assessing things purely on the retail price.

Linn cables for a Linn box.

From my expensive experience of buying lots of cables, the best ones seem to be made by the same brand as your system. Naim SL is far superior to anything else I tried (and I tried many) and my initial impressions of the Linn Silver cable is the same (albeit I have only compared against my Sarum T cables). I know there are many other great brands like Vertere and Ansuz; but sticking with the same brand saves a lot of headache, self-doubt and money!

If Linn adds more detail than Naim I can see why Sarum T will become an issue and that you need something more organic for best synergy.

I have had a better listen now at a decent volume and it is quite a difference. The mono outs on the Selekt seem to really work best with balanced cables. The sound is much fuller and the sound scape is much taller and wider (if that makes sense?). Or is that what people mean when they say 3D?

Either way, if anyone has new classic kit, the Linn silver could be a bit of a bargain for £300. And no, I am not on commission, I’ve just joined the annoyingly smug Selekt brotherhood…sorry. I’ll stop talking about it for a bit, I am just very, very happy!

I use a pair of Vertere pulse B RCA on my Linn Klimax DS3 as I picked them up for £150 and all the rest of my system has Vertere cables.

I saw that and tried to find some ex demo/second hand pairs but they are non-existent. That must be a good sign they are high quality cables as no one sells them! Unlike another brand I do not like who charge very high prices…

Picked up an NDac this very afternoon to pair with the ND5XS2 and hoping it lives up to its reputation on the forum. I need a bnc to bnc cable now and pondering the DC1 but given all my other cables are Chord Anthem I am in two minds?

Generally the Naim DC1 is often used. But other will say that a cheap one is enough…

A little pile of boxes when I came home today.
A Farad super 3 LPS with standard (but 50cm) cable for the EE8 switch.
Another Vertere Redline power for the Farad.
Three Furutech gold UK plugs for my Redline leads.
Last but not least a replacement ATVM540ML stylus as it’s about time…

All sounding excellent.

Just arrived.

Will have to see how much difference it makes spinning SACD’s on my Sony 800M2 into the NSC 222.

Update #1: Now installed and it sounds just marvellous, no longer a regular disc spinner but really useful if t’internet goes offline.

I’ve been living with the new turntable for just over a week now and I’m absolutely loving it. The only problem is that it now totally outclasses my ND5 XS2. Aaaagghhhh!!! :joy:
